Cox Engine of The Month
CKD.............................

CKD.............................
Rod knows the initials.......CKD = Completely Knocked Down. Back in the day MG used to ship many of their models to Australia (and other countries) that way then the dealer or customer would assemble them.
A couple of years ago I sat my 7 year old Grandson down at the kitchen table, gave him a Cox engine and told him to take it apart and put it back together which he did with minimal interference from me. I told him, one day I will give you that engine. Now is the time, although I really hate giving up that little screwdriver.
Not CKD, I left the prop drive washer and crank, (didn't want to give up my assembly/disassembly tools) and the reed. Later, I will give him some fuel and a couple of D cells wired in parallel.
Everything double sticky taped down. Not the quality of the Rusty or Travelling engine packaging but it will do. Had to rummage around a bit to find a Cox safety tipped prop.

Do you have any Enya 049 /06 / 08 / 10 for my Christmas present?
See my family of Enya engines I just posted:

That's a new one for me Jason, and I have been around Cox engines for 60+ years. Thought I knew everything, turns out I know nothing. Will be looking. Sure would like to get my hands on one of those.
Cam is an industrious kid with a curious mind. Started out riding dirt bicycles in competition at five, graduated to motorcycles this past summer. Hopefully this engine will give him relief from all the X,Y & Z boxes that he will get for Christmas.
Nice engines sosam. You have the fever.
Bob

Good work Bob. I remember Cox has a built yourself .049 engine kit in a blister package.

I still have one of my original blister type pack .049's Levent, but it was built. Haven't seen a CKD .049 either. Got a picture? If I can't own the original I can at least archive a picture.
If I were totally truthful it has been almost 70+ years that I have owned Cox engines. That one was bought in 1952 or 3.

That one survived only because I discovered cars and girls and got put away probably in the trunk with my Soap Box Derby stuff. When I went in the Navy my mother tossed most of my things including my treasured crows skull that rested with a smoked cigar stub in it's beak atop my bureau. Never saw my .049 sized diesel engine again either.
