It is Vought F-8 Crusader. War jets dramatically changed with improvements of jet engine technology. Real jet planes are Cold War Era war jets, F-4, F-111, A-7, English Electric Lightning, Mirage III and others.

I thought the nose-intake looked more sleek.
I really liked the F-105. Made a lot of noise when it took off. Ka-boom. I worked on them in Japan in 1967, then the USAF switched to F4-A,B,C,D. The ones we got from Vietnam Nam were all shot up and most of the equipment I worked on had bullet holes, or actual bullets imbedded in the packages. Most of the wiring was just a pile of broke, torn up wire. Those were the days.
