Cox Engine of The Month
Cox Tee Dee .049 Cylinders are now in stock

Cox Tee Dee .049 Cylinders are now in stock
Our shipment of Tee Dee cylinders just arrived!
http://coxengines.ca/product.php?productid=643&cat=27&page=1
This would now be the most powerful cylinder / piston setup we carry.
Although, technically, they are identical to the Cox OEM #4 Tee Dee cylinder of later year production, these cylinders can be used on any Cox .049 reed valve engine to obtain maximum performance.
The cylinders are Cox factory stamped with #1 and are Sub Port Induction (SPI)
PS: Until we get professional pictures, we used a stock photo. The actual product has bigger exhaust ports and the inside of the exhaust ports are unplated.

Nope, just came in.
You are probably referring to these:
http://coxengines.ca/product.php?productid=119&cat=27&page=1
Those are the other (old) version, simply renamed.
The ones we listed today have SPI and should boost performance by about 2,000 on reed valve engines.

In that case, expect an order for one sometime this year.
Re: Cox Tee Dee .049 Cylinders are now in stock
Bernie, do you have these listed on Ebay yet? If so can you send the item number. I would like to combine shiping and earn some EBay Bucks.

Joe,
I was waiting for profi pics before listing them on eBay (our photographer is backlogged). I don't have those yet but took some with my own camera and they will be listed in a couple of hours.
Please keep in mind that the free propellers offer for February does not apply to eBay purchases and we also offer the same combined shipping deal on our off-eBay site.

Re: Cox Tee Dee .049 Cylinders are now in stock
I understand that. However, the value of the props (equivalent to a 20% discount on the merchandise) is far higher than any eBay points. Even if he resold the props for 1/2 price he would be ahead financially.
But then, it is not my place to decide this. I merely wanted to point it out as we have had a few forum members buy from our eBay store and ask for the free props and I wanted avoid conflict in this respect with Joe.

Re: Cox Tee Dee .049 Cylinders are now in stock
So there is a total of two different reworked sure start cylinders, one with SPI and one without SPI?
It would have been nice to see a video, or two, of the performance.

Re: Cox Tee Dee .049 Cylinders are now in stock
Correct on the 2 types.
There is little point in a video as performance will vary greatly from engine to engine, easily a couple of thousand RPM beause of:
Fuel type
Elevation
Temperature
Prop type/size
Engine compression
Type of glow head/adapter
That aside I don't own a video camera and, even if I did, running engines and filming at 20 degrees below zero would be an exercise in the acquisition of new unprintable words lol.
Essentially: On Tee Dee engines there will be little difference (200 - 400 RPM) between both versions as SPI does not make much difference on rotary valve engines.
On reed valve engines the new SPI version will give the best performance. Aprx. 2,000 - 3,000 RPM more as opposed to, say, a Babe Bee cylinder and about 200 - 300 RPM more than our standard SPI set with the slit exhausts.
Basically, the porting inside is identical to the Venom one.
SPI works best at high RPM, i.e. with 5" propellers as SPI "feeds on itself".
