SBD - Scout Bomber Douglas
This last Christmas my Daughter-in-Law gave me Norman "Jack" "Dusty" Kleiss's book "Never call me a hero" detailing his exploits in the Pacific during WW2 and his participation in the battle of Midway. Started reading it last week and I'm about 3/4 of the way through. Got me interested in the SBD.
Went looking for a kit, finding a rubber band Quillows kit on ebay. Right now beyond my ability to put those stick builts together so I looked to Outerzone. Found a couple that I could kit bash into a C/L 20/30" WS profile with maybe a built up wing. Printed them out and will bring to Staples for enlargement to scale.
The model just cries to be built. Looks like it would have fine stunt characteristics for a WW2 aircraft design, in fact Kleiss relates how one of his pilots inverted his SBD and scored perfect hits on a training target. The SBD was primarily a dive bomber, but had a rear seat gunner and machine guns in the nose.

Just beware. The last three times that I have checked in with outerzone I have gotten a malware/virus warning, a red screen and/or a loud sound and have to reboot my computer to regain control. Not pleasant. Someone with a weird sense of humor may have corrupted it. outerzone ya know.

Strange. I logged on a coupe of times yesterday, and daily for the three previous days, and never had a problem. I'm using Firefox to access it. I'll have to check it to see if I get a malware signal.

Might not be outerzone. I have avoided it the last 24 hours and still get the warning.

If you have been looking at any Chinese manufactured products, you might have contracted the Corona virus.

This is a fairly recent event. If I avoid certain sites I don't always get it.
