Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!!!!!!
Though, we had ours yesterday. With our extended family, and the miles involved, the scheduling gets modified to include as many of us as possible, and we had a big time!
The only challenge was staying awake on the hour-long drive home...but I survived!

Re: All's Quiet On the Forum
Kim, I met Arlo Guthrie in Ocean City, New Jersey several years ago. It was drop dead hot and there's a very historical landmark/music pier on the boardwalk. Outside on the benches was Arlo wearing what was a derby like hat and a suit, it struck me odd as who would be wearing such a getup. A few people were requesting auto graphs and then it dawned on me who it was. I would've loved to seen his performance that evening but we had other plans.

Funny thing that I'd never heard (or remembered hearing) "Alice's Restaurant, before my room mate in school introduced me to the album. He was from Teaneck, NJ and being paired with a backwoods redneck from Southern Illinois really taxed him!
I ABSOLUTELY did know and love "The City of New Orleans" from the first time I heard it, though it's political subtleties were lost on me (what would you expect from a redneck??!!!).

Re: All's Quiet On the Forum
For the past 20 years, I've attended a local car show which takes place Thanksgiving morning on a open field with a old farm house from the 1690's. A very cool experience which lends itself to steam powered cars to fire trucks and lately motorcycles. Today was beautiful weather but a bit windy. Typically, the weather is extremely cold or rainy making it difficult for the old chain driven autos to navigate on the wet grass. The steamers make great handwarmers when they're parked. Inside the old farm house, they cook the turkey on a special rotisserie. It takes 4-5 hours to cook the turkey and this particular fireplace has a large adobe like beehive oven attached to the back of it in which the owners cook loafs of bread and rolls which are for purchase for dinner.
Maybe Rod can relate to the Australian Chrysler Valiant Charger that was present today. Something you never see in these parts with a 265 straight six, four speed and side draft Weber carbs. This car looked as though it came off of the showroom. In addition, the Corvair club was present with Corvair examples that were just amazing from the Spyder to the pickups and vans. While the Corvair never appealed to me, I can honestly say these examples today put the WOW factor into perspective as I never realized how many one off models of this classic were made.

You're talking my language Ken. Love going to those shows with all the old stuff.
Yeah, the Charger is a bit of an icon. Chrysler Australia was really struggling to compete with Holden (GM) and Ford in the early 70s. When they introduced the Charger, sales of the Coupe outstripped the sedan sales 3 to 1. Ads like this one attracted a bit of attention.
The E49 was awesome. 14.3 second 1/4 mile from the showroom. Outran the local Ford GT Falcon with its 351 Cleveland.

Re: All's Quiet On the Forum
A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone here. I am thankful for this forum. It's my sixth Thanksgiving with ya'll.
I miss being here as often as I used to be.. and I often reflect on memorable conversations.. banter, photos, videos.. that we've shared. Life continually steers us as we make our way through it. I'm thankful that it steered me toward CEF six years ago.
