Cox Dune Buggy
Gentlemen, can we rebuild it? We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first Dune Buggy better than it was before. Better, stronger, faster. LOL

There's a challenge! I'd love to see a build (rebuild?) thread on your restoration, it would be fascinating!

It's beyond help. It would cost to much to restore. I posted it as a giggle.

Re: Cox Dune Buggy
Hey, be happy your engine mount is still attached! My Baja Bug's engine mount broke off since the plastic was brittle from age and the long period of time it was covered in oil. Luckily the tires were fine, I display it sitting an a "stand" so it is not sitting on its tires. You don't have that big of a disaster there, just a cleaning, engine rebuild and a set of new tires will have that Dune Buggy displaying nicely or even fetch a good amount on eBay.
For the tires, I would go to your nearest hobby shop and search the tire shelf to see if there is anything that would replace the melted ones nicely. For $50 you could have a set of new tires... http://www.ebay.com/itm/cox-dunebuggy-baja-aftermarket-replacement-rear-tires-/180789370976 and http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180798009354

It's stained and melted beyond help. I may be able to save the engine.

Mud's right, it's not that bad. You can buy reproduction tires for it and a good scrub, your back in business.
Re: Cox Dune Buggy
That looks like the project(s) I've been working on. I have recently purchased 3 Baja Bugs and 2 Action Vans in various states of condition. Baja Bugs mostly like these pics, haven't done much of the chassis restorations yet just the engines. Lots of fun so far rebuilding the engines.

Re: Cox Dune Buggy
If anyone doing an engine rebuild on these sort of things needs a new Cox car crankcase send me a PM and I'll send you the one I have, no charge or anything, it's no use to me and I'd rather someone who can use it gets it.
