Great Score of Goodies!
Pretty good find for 20 bucks! Lots of different engines and kits that I didn't have. Fox 15 stunt new in the box plus another used, medallion 049 and 09, Testors 35 new, Taifun 1cc diesel, and a babe bee. The kits follow Sterling Ringmaster Bipe, Sterling Ringmaster Sportster, Aviomodelli Stuka, and a Graupner Filou sailplane. The stuka is interesting with the plastic fuselage halfs and balsa frame.

That is probably the best deal I have seen in a while. Good Job! That Sportster is a pretty rare kit. I have been looking for one just shy of forever.

Thanks Ron...yes best deal to date for me. I've been doing a little research on the sportster and yeah it's not a very common kit. I wonder how many Sterling produced.

Ooh Mommy!
Several individual items I would pay more than $20 for.
Haul of the decade. Nice going.

Re: Great Score of Goodies!
The Ringmaster Sportster has nice lines to it. The Sterling kit though is quite heavy. Pat King makes a very nice lightweight version. Unfortunately, your not buying his kit for $20. My friend Dennis built the prototype for Pat shown on the website. He then sent it to Pat who used it for a prize at a contest. The Ringmaster Flash Jr is another neat Sterling offering. Bob Clauss was chief designer/draftsman for Sterling for many years. Bob is a member of my club. Bob moved away a few months ago leaving us with many many unopened kits which were donated to the club. Many were auctioned off and several were used for prizes at our stunt contest in July of last year. His new residence didn't allow for the storage of all these kits. Bob could certainly answer the questions in terms of how many were produced. One of the kits that I thought was pretty cool was a Sterling F4-U Corsair signed on the box by Pappy Boyington . https://www.facebook.com/PhillyFliersCL/photos/a.605410626195742/1805593632844096/?type=3&theater

+1 on the above! Congrats! Just out of curiosity, were they offered to you for 20 bucks or were they advertised and you happened to be in the right place on the right time?
I have had a few things donated to me by kind fellow enthusiasts, and I also have bought ”piles of odds&ends” for cheap but this is something else!

yes they were advertised, I'm thinking a husband must of past away and the family didn't really know what to do with it. I had my daughter pick it up as I was busy, so didn't get to meet the lady.

Re: Great Score of Goodies!
Hello Canso07, just one question about the Aviomodelli Stuka. Does it have a plan or a parts pattern that will allow me to replicate the wing pieces? I located a kit with the fuz, landing gear and other bits but I am afraid about the ribs and spars. Before buying it I must be sure I could copy from somewhere. Thanks

HEY GOOSE! !! Welcome to the CEF! Thought I’d let you know you posted your request on a 2018 thread. Ya might get a faster response if you send a private message “PM” directly to Canso07. He hasn’t posted since Nov 19 , not that long ago. If all else fails have you looked for wing plans on Outerzone (www.outerzone.co.uk) they might have em.
Here are some they list:

Hello Goose,
Good to see someone else finding the treasures burried out there! I'll take a look tonight, I'm not home right now. That Stuka is a really neat kit.

Re: Great Score of Goodies!
Man, oh man! I'd love another crack at that P-40. Next time it will be a lighter engine, or a cut back firewall.
Is the Sizzling Liz a plastic turtle-deck model? If so, please make a cast of the plastics before they get cut for use. Then trace or scan the woods. This makes the kit re-produceable.

Re: Great Score of Goodies!
Hey Goose,
They two sheets I have doesn't give the wing rib patterns...but I do have the balsa ribs that I could copy. The person that own it before me cut them out crude but could be copied. I think I'm missing the instruction booklet because the plans aren't very detailed. I have spare patterns and everything for wings to copy.

Yes, the Sizzlin Liz does have the full length plastic turtle deck, and two piece plastic cowl. Can you point me to ayou-tube video, or linc to instructions on how to do a “cast” of the plastics? Tracing or scanning the wood is no problem. I see Dave ( at DCP) is on furlough due to shortages of balsa. Did he do your previous kit?

Re: Great Score of Goodies!
Marley,
I had the original kit sent to him. He did digitize it and cast a buck for the cowl. In fact, I ordered a replacement cowl for mine after the first crash. I never took the time to mount it. I also have all woods scanned, which is how I printed/cut and fixed the first crash.
I would love to build the kit just because I have enjoyed the other 1/2A Scientifics.
As far as casting bucks goes, the plastic needs to be dry and clean. The plaster is mixed to the consistency of a heavy cream-based soup. The plaster is then poured into the "mold" and allowed to dry...about a day or two. I kept the "molds" on the mantel over the old gas log fireplace (actual pilot-light/not on-demand ignition). The warmth of the fireplace helped dry out the plaster. The easiest way to tell is weight! Once the casting stops losing mass, it has gotten as dry as it will be. Then pop the buck out of the mold. I did have to use a bit of force to remove a particularly difficult pour once (the Guillow's Mosquito engine nacelles gave me fits). A bit of compressed air helped...not too much, or the mold may burst! Just a low pressure pfft!
Use your favorite DIY vacuum plate to pull replacement plastics!
Dave did mention that molds are good for so many cycles before the plastic starts to deteriorate from flexing out the bucks. And I learned they pull out easier if something is embedded in the plaster, like a thick pull string that can get cut off after removal.
Dave may want to add the Sizzlin Liz, if he hasn't already (hint, hint).

Hi Canso07, thank you for your answer!
I saw the Stuka kit in a second hand site but I do not have it yet due to the missing parts.
It is good to know there is a chance to get the patterns. I'll sent a PM to you soon.
Thank you all guys!!!!

@Canso07, If untouched and complete,
this GRAUPNER "Filou" kit is worth a few hundreds for sure in "Suebia" County Germany.
The Taifun "Hobby" Diesel looks in GOOD SHAPE.
GREAT DEAL
cheers
