Re: The Sliver - a TD .020 Project
Goodness, Brad! Your attention to the smallest of details is amazing and apparently effective, but I have to wonder how you are able to sleep at night in this world that is far from perfect. As much as I love this hobby, my building and flying skills are far below the standards of folks like yourself. I tend to get 'em together just good "enough" and fly them around as best and as often as I sloppily can. I DO enjoy your feedback on my projects and have learned some new techniques from it, so please keep it up. Just realize that my model projects would never pass muster in your shop. They fly around(but not too smooth or fast) and sometimes get crashed and field-repaired with ugly and heavy glue joints so they can be flown again that day. Where your little planes are organized, sleek, and well engineered, mine are more clumsy and comical and become battle-weary over time.
With all that said, I do really like your suggestion of using the tapped TD .010 spinner. I have seen the movement in my .020 spinners and always just accepted it in the past. I will search online for some hex 3-48x.75" hex bolts and a tap.

Re: The Sliver - a TD .020 Project
Thank you very kind of you to say Troy and Kim.
I enjoy passing on my findings and look forward to the flying vid.
Here is the link I have used for the bolts:

These look promising if the alan wrench size is big enough for a good bite:

The aluminum 1/2A bullet spinner is great for tapping #6-32 threads for TD .09 and 4mm for Norvel .074
https://coxengines.ca/cox-.049-aluminium-spinner-valentine.html
I originally ran a tap / threaded a stock .09 spinner for a 4mm button head alan bolt for the Norvel as shown.
Valentine sells Tee Dee .010 aluminum bullet spinners on ebay from time to time they work great with the .020
Found another pic this shows the TD .020 spinner tapped for #5-40 bolts. / NV spring no bulky fuel tubing.

Re: The Sliver - a TD .020 Project
Tail pushrods were routed and braced up. Bottom sheeting installed. Used a Dymond 3.7 as a throttle servo, recessed into the upper cowl area for clearance. Tank was trial fitted and brass thru-fittings installed in the firewall. Tank made by 1/2A Nut. It's 1/2oz and should be good for 5-6 minutes of fun flying. Extended the needle valve with a piece of fuel tubing and a cap screw notched for orientation.

Re: The Sliver - a TD .020 Project
Close now will have to get yourself a scale and weigh that sucker.
Back when I was a young man in my 20's a plane that far along would be test flown the next day lol.
These days sad to say the gusto is not there to pull an all nighter to knock it out.
I bought one of these early summer time as I needed to weigh out a 3.2lb project.
Good for 1g increments and the price is right with free shipping.

Hello Tee Bee !, that project is going very well! ... I like the 020 rc! ... please place a video of the engine's running, I would like to enjoy watching it accelerate and remain regulated at the operator's pleasure!

Ok, Mauricio. Believe it or not, I've never ran this engine before. It just has to run, right? I am as curious as you about the throttle performance. We will find out in time, my friend. Keep your fingers crossed.

Very nice how this little bird lands then takes off!
What is the size of your propeller? Is this the 3 bladed COX prop or the 2 bladed 4x2

Re: The Sliver - a TD .020 Project
Sorry to disappoint you, but no landing gear on this one. Most of my Cox planes are belly landers and I've been lucky enough not to break too many props. I usually carry spares to the field just in case, though.

I understand you, where I live, you do not get any spare parts and buying outside, besides paying, you have to pray to heaven to arrive, that is a fundamental condition that obliges you to take care of the propellers in these places ... the world friend!

Re: The Sliver - a TD .020 Project
Hey that's great, looking through my lot of .020 spinners I have a red anodized one too.
That extra 360 deg layer of anodizing is a plus. Those stars should really make it a breeze
to keep track in the air.
That's a darn near cooked tis getting close now, ahh the anticipation should get the ole heart rate
going on launch for sure. Hopefully you can film that sucker for the masses to enjoy.
