Can someone please help out with a bid?
I'm looking for someone to have a shot at an engine on ebay for me. He won't ship to Australia. Only if no-one else here is going for it.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/McCoy-35-and-OK-Cub-099-for-parts-or-repair-/152568592845?
The McCoy case looks a lot tidier than mine so I'm looking to make a neat one out of two. The Cub's a write-off but may add a couple of items to my parts bin.
For some reason the seller says "International buyers please contact me before placing a bid" but then the shipping details says in bold red "Does not ship to Australia". Ebay won't allow me to message him for some reason.
If anyone is willing to bid on it for me that'd be great, but I'll only go to $15-$20 and I'd want you to send it to me in the cheapest possible way, maybe a padded envelope. I think $13.95 is about the cheapest you can get. Depends if he'll ship it to you for not too much. Located in Texas. Ends in 35 hours.
Please PM me if you can help.
Rod.

Re: Can someone please help out with a bid?
Hey Rod I will be surrogate I have shipped to you before I believe
Let me know in next 23~ 28 hours what your max bid would be
looks like for me I have 1 day 10 hrs left on the item
Well dang I should have read your entire post....got it...PM sent
I will bid it down to under your max....
considering condition I don't expect much competition but will wait before bidding so some one does not get competitive for the parts

Thanks guys. We'll see what transpires. Appreciate the help Fred. For all their reported failings I like the Red Heads. I have a couple of 35s but one has a badly beaten up case, so looking to renovate.

Ok, so what happened? I see it sold with only one bid. Haven't heard from Fred who was going to have a shot at it for me.

On June 5th I sent a LA .40 to Australia, it got there yesterday. Not bad in my estimation. You can print the label out right on paypal, it gives you an address label on one side and customs info on the other. Tape it to the box and drop it in your mailbox, then lift the flag up Easy-peasy. It did cost $22 though.

Yes, a package.
Well, here's an update to the story. Just to remind you without reading back, I wanted to bid on a "con USA shipping only" McCoy .35 parts engine. Fred stepped in and offered to bid & ship to Aus. on my behalf. A power failure foiled our plans, so I thought I missed out.
A package?
Here it is.
A fresh & tidy complete McCoy .35 thanks to Fred. WOW!
It even has an original gold McCoy plug.
Well, that was a surprise. I know these are not all that collectable of valuable, but what an incredibly generous gesture on Fred's part.
Now, what to do with the other engine I needed parts for. You know what, I'm just gonna have to keep searching for those parts so I can have another complete engine. Another one? How many does a guy need?

Re: Can someone please help out with a bid?
Back story
I have my dad's original McCoy 35 from our youth (my dad was in early 20s I was like 3 or 4)
I went in search, back in 2012, for parts to get it going
The gent who sold me all the parts included the pictured engine, complete
I contacted him to ask what I owed him for his mistake
He said he had dozens of them lying around and knew why I wanted some parts
I asked what he need as compensation, and he told me Pay it forward some day
I just did...promise kept
