Black Hawk Models' Return Empty Black Hawk Models' Return

I was just looking at the new Black Hawk Models website.  It looks really good.  I have 5 BH models in the drawer, I think.  But there are a couple that I might still buy anyway.  That Earhart Lockheed L10 is looking pretty snazzy.  And the Hawker Hurricane really tempted me back before Larry shut down production.

Black Hawk Models website

Y'all know I'm mostly a scratch built guy for my 1/2A planes.  But I just gotta support a company keeping the 1/2A planes alive.  Although it IS kinda funny that the website calls themselves America's Model Company when they're actually located in Canada...

Well they could be North America's Model company. They keep announcing that they're leaving and coming back so much I lose track. I like their Musciano line. I have plans for a bunch of them that Bob Z sent me.

Of the Musciano designs I have witnessed from the prior owner, they're not true to the Scientific kits. I forget the exact reasoning as to why they were once again changed. I say once again due to the Scientific company changing the original designs of Walt's. Rusty, if you have a set of plans from Bob, they're probably directly from Walt as you know over the years they maintained contact. Many of Walt's designs were not high performing acrobatic planes. They're just all out fun flyers. Some examples do fly quite well, the Golden Hawk is one that I enjoy. Reducing the weight in these planes are critical, not an easy task. Kim has mentioned the Musciano events over the past few years. It would certainly be neat to do something like this and take video of the flights and post them seeing that many of us are spread out all over. I prefer the Fox .049's for these planes, but a Cox powered model would certainly up the ante. Ken

I've had my Thunderbird out a few times and it flies suprisingly well. I'll get some video next time.

I'm excited about the Grumman Avenger and the Hawker Hurricane.  The Avenger looks like a lot of kit for the money and the Hurricane with it's built-up wing comes closest to my long ago Zipper.  Both are in my cart, but they don't tell you what shipping is from Canada before you pull the trigger which can be substantial.

Bob

Edit add....I read that they ship from a post office in NY State, so we shall see. I completed the order.
