Cox Engine of The Month
Cox .15 Wrenches at 1/2 price :)

Cox .15 Wrenches at 1/2 price :)
http://coxengines.ca/cox-.15-wrench-no-venturi-cutout.html
We had some wrenches made with a cutout for the venturi and, due to a misunderstanding, the cutout was not made deep enough. We are therefore listing them for 1/2 price until supplies last.
To note is that Cox did not make this wrench with a venturi cutout; this was intended as an improvement of ours.
However, we now also have them with the proper cutout here:

Ah, collectors item. Will be worth a mint in the future.

Re: Cox .15 Wrenches at 1/2 price :)
Bernie,
I see that both wrenches listed are advertized as fitting all Cox .15 Engines.
In my experience this is not the case. The thin walled and thick walled cylinders require a different wrench. So a wrench for a Sportsman will not fit a Special .15
Not trying to be a jerk, just wanted to mention it. Might save you some hassle in the future.

Re: Cox .15 Wrenches at 1/2 price :)
Ron,
That is a very valid point that we had not considered when getting the wrenches made. However, we seem to have lucked out lol.
Just tried them on the following engines:
Tee Dee 15
Tee Dee 15 Mark II
Sportsman
Olympic
(don't have a TD .15 Special but believe it's the same as the regular TD)
On the following parts:
Glow head
Cylinder
Backplate
Venturi
Retainer nut
For the Mark II cylinder, the 1/2-circle cutout on the long side works great.
However, I am glad you brought this up as we may have blindly walked into a trap And, never, ever, would we be offended if someone pointed out a deficiency, or potential deficiency, on any of our products.

Re: Cox .15 Wrenches at 1/2 price :)
It may be it's just the Special .15 then.
I have a Sportsman, Special and a Special MKII and I have to use a different wrench on the Sportsman cylinder as the Special one was too large.
Like you, I use the side cutout on the MKII, actually I think it's the only one you can use.
All the ones you listed have the thin wall cylinder with the exception of the MKII which is a different design.

So, does that mean it may not fit the "regular Special"? It does fit the Special Mark II but I sold a "Special" to a collector last month before I realized that one was missing in my collection.

Can't say for sure.
I have original Cox wrenches so that is all I have to go off of. The part that doesn't work for me is the cylinder cutouts. The MKII has the same cylinder dimensions externally as the Special .15.
I will be home tomorrow and I can take pictures.

Re: Cox .15 Wrenches at 1/2 price :)
In which case the 1/2 circle cutout used on the MKII should work on the Special?
Re: Cox .15 Wrenches at 1/2 price :)
Ron,
Why don't you go to this link:
https://coxengines.ca/product.php?productid=1125
Add two of the beasts to cart and go through checkout using "telephone ordering" and we shall send you two of them tomorrow for you to try and report back to us?

Bernie,
Sorry for the delay on replying. I was enjoying 24oz of prime rib
Anyway, I'd be glad to check that for you, but I am on the road Monday for SC for a month.
If you can wait that long let me know. Another option is to ship them to Rusty and I can drag the engine with me for faster response.

Yes it would, however, that would be my last choice as it can easily marr a cylinder as well as slip off. It only has one little tab that grabs the exhaust cutout.

That's a cool looking one with the spray gun carburettor (bottom left). What type is that?

Heavily modified Sportsman 15. Ignition conversion and side port induced. Haven't run it yet. Got it about a year ago.

Ron,
Whatever works
You can grab a couple from our site aprx. a week before your return or you can get Rusty to do this now. Just wanted someone to try them on as many .15 variations as possible so that we can list them correctly.
Re: Cox .15 Wrenches at 1/2 price :)
If you give me a measurement of your cylinder wrench cutout I can confirm tonight and post pictures.
It would save you money.
If you want hands on I can grab a couple from you. Actually I would only need one to test with.

0.53"
but the offer stands. You brought this to our attention and you get two free wrenches
Re: Cox .15 Wrenches at 1/2 price :)
Ok,
I have been travelling, but did take the time to check things out.
I have 2 .15 wrenches, one has no cut out for cylinder removal via exhaust port and the other one does.
I measured and it came in at roughly .53 ( I am Canadian) so would have found metric easier!
Luckily my wife is not so she helped me out...
Anyway, the Special .15 will accept the .53 cutout, but it is a loose fit, my Sportsman with the thin wall will accept it, but the fit is much looser. So much so that I wouldn't even attempt it.
What I did find is my .09 wrenches were a perfect fit at least on the Special, and a touch looser on the sportsman. See the attached pictures.
Special .15 with Cox .15 wrench
Sportsman with same wrench. Very loose fit
Special with .09 wrench
Sportsman with .09 wrench (note the gap) which clearly shows the difference between cylinder thickness.
Test subjects.
Hope this helps! I don't require free wrenches, just glad to provide field info.

Thanks for the enlightenment Ron. I am 100% metric and struggle with the Imperial system but it eluded me that you were Canadian lol.
