The next-best-thing to owning a big field...is having a friend that does !!!
My new, flexible retirement schedule is letting me hook up with some of my buds who are still working crazy schedules, and it's gonna lead to more flying.
My buddy Vince still works at the diaper factory I bailed from 10 years ago, and with his raising a family while dealing with 12-hour swing shifts, we've had a tough time getting some model planes in the air. He's now survived his two teenage daughters and is wanting to get some serious flying going.
So...he's working on a chunk of ground, out and away from his house, where the castor-slingers can make all the racket they want without getting the sheriff called. The place is boxed-in by hills and a stand of trees, so we ought to also get some breaks from the wind.
His dad, (late 70's) is one of those guys who worked harder in his retirement pursuits than he did making a living as an engineer for a barge company. He's an old-school control line dude, and will probably be joining us after getting his models out of storage.
Vince also has a 100 yrd target range next to the flying circle, so this place is shaping up to be a great place for a guy to duck and hide for a while !!!!
We ought to have the place fairly nice right in time for some cool Fall temps. Later on in September, if any of you should find yourselves cruising down Interstate 55 near Cape Girardeau, Missouri, shoot me a note and maybe we'll go turn some circles, and/or shoot some guns!
Video frame, blurred by the rocket-like takeoff of my Park Flyer Champ. I earlier christened the "circle-to-be" with a first flight by my Jetco Shark 15...parked in it's stooge on the right. This ought to be a fun place!
Vince readies his 3-D Foamy as I set up the Champ for a strafing run.
Sunset, with my Champ being pursued my Vince's Foam Extra

Thanks Guys!
It's gonna be a bunch of fun this fall. We've been talking about this for a while, but just now started on it. The manager at our airport still lets us fly in the grass field next the main road, but that may be an iffy deal with the Feds getting frisky about drones.
Anyway, ALWAYS a good thing to have a back-up !!!!!!

Yeah, especially those damn dangerous control line drones.
