I am putting together another kit. It will join what is currently six unfinished models. (I am saying this because of the wing in the background makes it a little obvious and someone will quickly realise that I have a plethora of unfinished build topics)

I know I can cut, stick bits of wood together and sand them but my finishing leaves little to be desired. So I am preparing a few models to the same state so that I can concentrate on finishes. Trial and error really.

Anyway, in my recent kit build cam the parts to build a leading edge profiler. It works a treat so I thought I would post it.

Simple to put together - four profile templates, put together initially using stringers. This is then followed by boxing in and soaking balsa sheet prior to bending and gluing in place.

When all is dry - stick stand paper in the profile - I use 3M spray mount and you are ready to profile.

I will probably repeat this for other models. The only thing I would do differently is not be to use quite as wide a strip of sandpaper and fill the profile completely. It made it difficult negotiating the ribs.

I was pleased with the result.

What a great idea!!!!

Looks very smooth and uniform. Beats doing it by hand or a sanding block.
