What is this?

What is this?
Not sure if it's just because the fuselage is by it's lonesome or what, but it doesn't look like the usual stuff I see.

Most of a Learjet?
If you can get the complete number then you can search and see if there is information about what happened in public record. Google brings up a lot of this type of stuff.

Re: What is this?
I can look again tomorrow at the number if it's still there. It has a really long fat nose so I don't know if it's a Lear or not. Plus the funny square jet tubes on the side.
I guess it doesn't matter anyway. It was just out by my truck after work and looked different.

Piaggio Avanti. Italian turbo prop. This one looks a little on the rough side.

I knew somebody on here could identify it. It's gone now. Perhaps inside the hangar for a resto.
Thanks!

Re: What is this?
The whole time I saw this plane, I recognized something about it. I have this plane as a control line scale model with 3 line control. It's in rough shape currently and not airworthy. I think it's in the same condition as the one shown in your pic. Ken

Re: What is this?
No looks not like vespa. It is maybe a turboprop fast like a jet.
Called piaggio p180.
My vespa is also made by piaggio called piaggio p200 But not fast (not yet)
Sarcastic!
They have got brilliant engineers down in italia, sadly d' ascanio ( the designer of vespa, speedboats, planes, helicopters and friend of sikorsky is dead since the 60's)
piaggio had a joint venture with learjet in the mid 80ies the avanti is still in production

Re: What is this?
Definitely a Piaggio Avanti. I worked at Stevens Aviation in Greenville, South Carolina about ten years ago where the airplanes were flown in from Italy and we would complete the interiors. The restroom in this airplane is about the size of a porta potty with about three feet cut off the top. The twin pushers make a very unique sound.

Re: What is this?
Yeah, we call them "Catfish" ! Their engines DO have a different sound. The sound like they're going 500 mph when they're on approach at about 100 or so....

Every couple of weeks I spot a Beech Starship over head out of FMG.
Also a wild sound. May be mostly from the prop tips.
