I am the master of my domain.........

No more waiting on folks to help me out!!! I modeled mine after Kims' design. When I build some combat models I think I will go Rusty style.

"Stooges-R-Us"!

Yeah...I got to copy Rusty's stooge for my Combat Kitten ! I've watched his Flitestreak video several times, and am STILL mystified at the way the the little plane levitates for a instant, then blasts off!

Yeah, I have a couple flying wings I need to build. This stooge won't cut the mustard for those.

You probably have to have a real slick engine to get it to hover. Or a really tall stooge.

I did a little resize for ya there Ron, hope that was OK. All I was seeing was 1/2 a wing on the top post. Let me know and I will delete this post if you want.

No that's cool Keith. Not sure why it's so screwed up lately. I haven't been changing the way I post. I post with my mobile phone so there may be a format issue. Why the problem just popped up I haven't a clue......

If I can't view the entire image by double clicking (image hosted by the site), I right click and hit 'View Image' to bring up the full view. Goback button to return to forum.

At least in Firefox. YMMV.

I used a pull-string stooge when I first started figuring out how to launch by myself. It was a pair of 10 hole bricks side by side and a metal skewer connected to a 35' string. I knew I needed a better idea when my ankles became tied together during a flight. I never begged a plane to run out of gas more that that one. I laid on the ground while Holley came over and un-mummified my legs laughing her ass off the whole time. I'm glad I didn't have the camera rolling for that.

Ron, is your stab/elevator skewed counterclockwise slightly. Maybe it's the pic on my monitor. But if it is, that might make it turn into the circle during a loop.

Might be. It happened on my last flight when I did a nose dive when the power cut out in the loop. I haven't flown it since. I had to re-glue the horizontal stab as is came loose. In doing so I may have put it on cocked. In relation to the wing it's level so it shouldn't cause a problem. I used wood glue to put it back on so it may be hard to remove.......

I could just crash the plane again, I have mastered that skill lol!

Fly it and try it. I think the misaligned hinge line will aggravate your situation.

That being said, I've seen some ringmasters fly that defied all logic.
I've seen Ringmasters fly with no rudder (fell off during flight).
I've seen one fly with no outboard half of the wing (knocked off by a pole).
I've seen one fly with the elevator hanging by one hinge and the pushrod.
I saw one that was so crooked in every aspect that it look as though the guy built it in a dark room - but it flew OK.

Probably why it is such a successful plane throughout the years.

I actually did laugh out loud at that. When Matt and I were flying the Satan on TP day, we were about to fire it off again when I saw the hinge pin had come out of the stabilator. Just one flight beyond the Traveling Prop flight. Whew!

lol!

Based on that experience I am going to put a heavy metal ring on the end of the pull string so I can toss it far away from center.

BUMP.. lol! I'll be building a new pin-stooge with a lower (ground-level) connection-point to the tail of the model. My last variant resulted in tail-high launches with resultant nose-overs flying from pavement.. Rolling Eyes More to come..

Another "Golden Oldie"

That Ringmaster became so beat up it became kindling. I did learn a lot with that thing.

Hope your Stooge turns out well. I also HOPE to see a FLIGHT report in the very near future. Wink

I know..! Laughing I'm into recycling Ron.. I love these old threads. I look back on some of mine..... and I'm.... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes ... even some of my recent ones make me want to crawl under the bed.. Laughing

What model "Ring" was that? I'll guess a "Baby" with the built-up wing. 24"??? Cox .049? Cool Cool Cool

I'm dragging my feet as-per usual.. but have 3 airplanes RTF. I need to practice tying a good "uni-knot" in my 15# braided "Dyneema" line.. before I dare hooking-up the lead-outs. I'll also be using 10+ foot longer lines than I was using when I used to fly. Maybe that will be a good thing. I used to fly my .049's in a pretty small circle (50-52" diameter) and will be increasing that to a 65-70" diameter. My models are mostly in the 7-8oz. range.. and reed-valve powered. We'll see how they do. I am psyched to fly Ron. The old pin-stooge will work fine for the models that are RTF.
