Yet another wrench in the works... Grrrrr
I was washing the dishes and lost my grip on a chef knife and bounced it off my left hand, the arm with my dialysis access, my lifeline. Nothing critical got cut, but now I have a bunch of stitches I can't get fuel and grease all over. This time last year I had gone through a gallon of fuel learning to fly fancy tricks. I've only been able to burn half that this year (most of that in the shop), the season I had such big plans for to show off all my new cool stuff. It should heal in time for the Carpal Tunnel surgery on my right hand next month. If we cussed on this forum I could write a much more eloquent account of my disgust.

Picked the cat up out of the road, because she is so brave and was just staring at a car that wheeled up to her and stopped,,she acctually sniffed the bumper. Picked her up, walked back up the driveway 50',,she did a burnout in my arms for some ood reason, laid the pinky finger wide open, from palm to 2nd knuckle near the tip. Bled freely and fast,,.
Her name was Smorsels,,now it's Lucky.
Boiled it out with peroxide and superglued the flaps of skin down.

Yeeeeow, that had to hurt. Strangely my cut never did hurt. Maybe because the knife was so sharp. Keep an eye on that cat scratch. Peroxide was a good idea, but be on the lookout for anaerobic bacterial growth under the superglue.

Yup, developed during Vietnam for field medics. I laid my thumb WIDE open working on installing a Derale electric radiator fan on my 56 chevy, Right to the bone in 3 places on the fingerprint area of my thumb. Ok,, no more tough guy, a trip to the ER is in order I can see. Ran down there and waited just a few minutes in the ER room. Apparently when you come in with your thumb gushing blood they take you right back past everyone else waiting, giving you the hairy eyeball as you pass them. Took me back, scrubbed out the flaps of skin thoroughly, which is a party all unto itself let me tell ya, and proceeded to superglue the flaps of skin down. Wrapped it up, handed me a sucker, and booted me out. To the tune of $600. I about had a bad beat when I got that bill.
Superglue,, who would have thunk it. Granted the epi-pen glue dispenser thing was probably alot more sterilized than the stuff we buy. I cracked open a fresh bottle of gap filler for my quick fix and probably saved myself OVER $600 this time. Peroxide flushed, loaded the rip/cut with neosporin plus, then a couple dots of glue to hold the skin together. NO ACCELERATOR USED,,lol.
Dang cats!

I think CA was invented in the early forties and became commercially available as "Eastman 910" in the late fifties. It was introduced to modeling by the Satelite City company as "Hot Stuff" in the seventies...and the rest is history.
Now there are many types and brands.
But yes, field medics used it, and probably still do.

A few years back while setting up a carport at the field, one of the club members got a fairly deep cut about 1.5" long on the back of his calf from a roof panel. We pushed the edges together and CAed it closed. He healed up just fine.
