I want a Jumpin Bean!
Dang it!
I was in the mood to buy one and everwhere I look they are out of stock. Anyone know of a place where one is available?

Re: I want a Jumpin Bean!
I wonder what's going on with Brodak. That's the best one out there. They're out of a lot of kits.
Why the sudden interest in the Bean, Ron?
Mine is a great flyer. There are a few good videos of the Bean in my Tube channel. One is the feature video if you haven't seen them. I destroyed the bellcrank in it. When I built it, I didn't reinforce it for pulling it out of the stooge e hundred times. Now that I know I'll be doing that, I reinforce them for that. I'm hoping the same thing doesn't happen to the Satan, which isn't braced either. I can hear something internal vibrating in the videos too. Hopefully it's just a cracked rib or something. I might open it up and see but I don't want to destroy my decals.
The Bean needs open heart surgery to fix it. Poor thing hangs in the shop with guts spilling out of one wing.

Re: I want a Jumpin Bean!
Been looking for a "Bean" too but have now fixated on a "Pinto" from RDM.
I've come to dislike profile planes with the engine so prominent up front. They look more like a flying engine rather than a airplane.

I don't know why the sudden interest Rusty. I think I have gotten to the point where I have way more engines than kits. Couple that to the fact my new property has enough room for a CL circle.
I read about your beans misfortune. She will fly again I have no doubt about that. My stooge will be 6yrs old and also goes by the name Ron.
Anyway I will keep on looking. I have been eyeing them for a while and I thought I had more time.

Ron:
What price would you put on satisfaction?
There is only $20 difference between the RDM "Pinto" (full-fuse) and the Brodak "1/2A Pathfinder" (profile). Like the difference between Budweiser beer and "Dos Equis" cuervesa.
Salute!

Hey, back off Rusty! You already have one.
I am pretty sure he was talking about a Bean.

Don't worry, I don't want another one. I'll get around to fixing mine one of these days before too long.

Re: I want a Jumpin Bean!
Pinto is a fine flyer. A strong TD .049/.051 or Norvel .061 flys real fine. Once you fly one you will throw rocks at the Bean !!

Re: I want a Jumpin Bean!
Having built two full size Orientals, I find it to be one of my favorites. The Pinto with 220 squares and a 34" wingspan makes it quite desirable. Another benefit is having a constant chord wing which simplifies building. This is certainly on the want list. Ken

Re: I want a Jumpin Bean!
The Pinto is scaled down version of a classic stunter. Beanies are for less skilled builders but Pinto does buil easy and worth the time/money/effort. Want it to sing use Paw .049/.061, one oz. sullivan tank and good to go.

Re: I want a Jumpin Bean!
Pics of my Bean I finished last year. Still hung up,,waiting paitently. Actually I don't know if I ever will fly it. I started to build one about 30 years ago and it got tossed into a box and never finished, so this was a finish what I started type of thing. It got pretty heavy as I went along. First run with Brodak paint and I didn't have any reducer so the fuse ended up having very thick coats put down, thus adding weight. Picked the kit up from Brodak, can't believe they are out.

Re: I want a Jumpin Bean!
This is my motivation.....minus the odd looking hickory in the middle.

If that's hickory in the middle of your otherwise perfect looking flying area I would think that its next use would be to smoke ribs or some other BBQ type task. That's a great looking yard you've got.

Thanks, great minds think alike
It is a hickory, nuts and all. Hickory nuts taste good but, you need a sledge to crack the shell.
It's the only Hickory on my property and I hate to cut it down. It is in the center of my circle so I will console myself with some nice smoking wood.
I moved from the bustling San Antonio suberbs to a quaint 1.5 acres here in Tuttle Oklahoma. I will never go back to the city as long as I have breath in my lungs.
I just received plans for a Veco Scout so if I don't get a Bean it will be next on the build list.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Dan. But I can't deny, I do put 'em into the ground now and then.dankar04 wrote:lOOKS GREAT , LIKE THE WING COVERING. wHAT IS IT ?? sEND TO RUSTY HE''LL SMASH THE LIFE OUT OF IT. pRONTO !!
