2 maidens in 2 weeks
Got out to fly again today. This is the second time in 2 weeks and the second time in 2012. I maidened my new Hangar 9 Cessna 150 Aerobat. I know it is an evil electric but it is still a nice flying little plane. I originally got it to convert to .049 but thought the airframe was too flimsy for any repeated long term glow use and I didn't want to chop up such a pretty plane so I kept it electric. I also flew the DNU again. Thanks to Andrew I switched to an APC 5.7X3 and was rewarded with unlimited vertical and no noticable drop in speed. Thank you Andrew, much appreciated. I also flew the Hummer with the Norvel .061 Big Mig with an APC 6X3. The vertical performance was greatly improved over the Hopped up Tee Dee .051 on a Cox 5X3 grey competition prop but still not nearly as good with the Norvel .061 AME. Unfortunately, Mother Nature kicked me off the field before I could get into any real trouble. It was still much fun while it lasted. It may be a while before I get to fly again but in the mean time I am trying to finish up a House of Balsa 1/2 A Stealth Sport. It will be powered by an unused Black Widow. Does anybody have any experience with these? I bought it partially built and covered on ebay and do not have any idea what to expect.
By the way, the pressure tapped reedie started on the second try using the starter spring. That was with no priming. You guys have got to try it.

I've never gotten my Killer Bee to draw dependably from a wedgie. Maybe I'll try that sometime.fit90 wrote:

I can't seem to get out to fly much lately either. I have big ideas but life intervenes and other times I just plain don't feel like it. I'm hoping Summer will cure some of that. No maidens for me this weekend... of any type.

Re: 2 maidens in 2 weeks
Wouldn't that be an E-Flite and not a Hangar 9? How does it fly, as I've been thinking about one?

It would be awesome if you could start an instructional thread on how to pressure tap a reed valve engine. I'm sure many on the forum would appreciate it!
Thanks, Jim
