Andras, or anyone, What do you flush your balloon tanks with after an outing?…. The balloon lasts pretty good if used every once in a while but maybe a flush after use?…Easy enough just to replace the balloon if that’s best… I’m liking how these work Thumbs Up

Ballon Tank Question F9705b10

Apart for cleaning/maintenance after an outing…. Still in one piece!  Very Happy

Robert, I do not flush it, but after the last flight of the day, attach a syringe and pull it to full vacuum so that the last drop of fuel is emptied. Then I let it inhale/suck in some air just to make sure the castor on the tank internal wall does not stick it into a flat clump...the rubber withstands glow fuel ingredients for pretty long, several seasons..the minimal amount of castor leftower flushes off next time you fill her up..

(Your Pageboy is still beautifully intact although it may have clocked in many hours of airtime by now.  RC Plane )

Thanks Andras, Will do on evacuating the tank…. That’s easier than flushing anyway!….I also use vacuum as sort of a reverse leak check… Pull it down hard and see if will hold without trying to inhale…..

Thanks for the PB comments…. It’s flown about a dozen times… Getting more acquainted with it each time…. I got some video of it flying on one of its wood props today….. I’ll post it in a day or two after a little video cleanup …

Ballon Tank Question Empty Re: Ballon Tank Question

Hi rdw777,
Nice balloon tank. And Pageboy !

My 'bladder' tanks are much more simple.
-thumb or fingers cut from surgical type gloves.
-2.5in of inner yellow nyrod plastic tube. I have plenty of scraps, any tube will do.
-on the carb side, 1/4in back, I wrap 1/4in masking tape to about 3/8in dia.
-on the tank end I put 1/4in of regular fuel tube to prevent getting holes in the bladder.
-in between I melt 6 or so holes with a candle and paperclip wire. (make sure no burrs to poke holes)
- bladder gets sealed to the tape 'cork' with regular kitchen twist ties.
Done.
To fill, you need a syringe. (makes me feel like a Mad Scientist ! Very Happy )
-for a 1oz run, suck a bit more fuel into the syringe.
-with the syringe vertical, suck the air out, then fill. 'Burp' all the air out by repeating till no bubbles.
-hook up to engine, prime then go.
Sounds easy. It is. I had doubts, but it sure does work and I am not looking back.
90% of any 2stroke engine problems have been fuel/tank related in my experience.
(I am tired of 'maintaining' PylonBrand type 'clunk' tanks. Very Happy )
Anyways,
Awhile back, sorting thru boxes I found a 20yr old one wrapped in paper towel. It was a solid mess. I blew on the fuel line.
Sure enough, the surgical glove material 'popped away' from the solid goo. I was amazed.
A 'thumb' of a glove will get a GoldenBee run, fingers a BabyBee run.
Your results may vary... Cool
Thanks CEF,
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Thanks Dave, Agree with you tanks of different sorts can be problematic and balloons can really help in a lot of situations…. It’s taken me a little practice to learn to fill them properly but work great, Especially when trying to save every gram possible …. I’ve had good luck with other types and even tanked Bees when sealed up correctly but a balloon is working best for me in this application…. Your approach to balloons is interesting!…
Noted!…
