Cox Engine of The Month
Our Pre-Club Meeting Fun-Fly on Wednesday!

Our Pre-Club Meeting Fun-Fly on Wednesday!
The Breezy Hill Flyers hold their monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of each month, often at a member's home or the K.C. Hall in Chester, Illinois.
But, when the weather is agreeable, we'll sometimes meet at the field, and sneak in a little model aviation beforehand.
During this "Pre-Meeting Fun-Fly", four of us showed up after lunch, and put up flights through the afternoon 'till the meeting started at 7.
Leo had arrived first, and was practicing with his TF Nobler as the rest of us wandered in. Billy had his "Streaks", Allen brought the Steak that netted him 7th place in Intermediate at this year's NATS, and I had the Stan Fronabager-built Streak I'd named "Big Bunny". Leo also had his Streak on-line, so it was a very "Streaky" afternoon.
With moderate, but workable winds, we had us a big time, flying and visiting, and there were few moments in the day without the wonderful wail of a control liner tearing around the Crop Circle.
We even had a demonstration of Billy's large rubberband-powered Aeronca "Chief" as the winds died a bit later in the day.
The meeting was also fun, with Billy exhibiting some of his wood carvings, and Allen's account of his NATS Adventure.
Fun Times on Breezy Hill!
Our New Sign!!!! With Billy Lang's characters in each corner, representing the types of aerial hi-jinks that happen on Breezy Hill.

Yeah, the heat was only slightly less than it had been earlier in the week, and we typically face to the west when we fly, so it can get a bit rough.
I spent 8 bucks on a Walmart umbrella with a clamp device to hold it onto my lawn chair arm, and it worked pretty well...still got my legs toasted though.
Yes, Billy has a bunch of rubberbeand models, both the scale and performance types...he just has to be patient in getting a non-breezy day on Breezy Hill!
And yes, Big Bunny DEFINITELY goes "air cushion" on it's stooge launches...I think the stunt flaps help it a lot as it skims the ground, building up speed on the launch!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leo helped me with some hand launches that were greatly appreciated!

Kim,
It looks like you had a beauty of a day for it too!
Good for you guys!
PS...I tried to zoom in on the stooge 8n all the pics, but couldn't make sense of it. Is there any chance it can be showcased here? TIA

I enlarged these from some photo files, but also couldn't really tell how it worked. I'll be sure to get some details from Allen on it at first chance:
