Re: Cox td 010
I've finally gotten around to working on a whole bunch of Cub .049 As and Ba that I have been collecting over the last several years. A few things are a challenge, one being the removal of the prop thrust plate from crankshaft end. Those have to be the most stubborn/impossible of any 1/2A engine out there. Clogged spray bar removal is also vexing. Ditto for connecting rod pin. I have also noted that there is a high level of inconsistency with the machined intake bypass flutes in the crankcase. Some have one, some have two and some have one plus one half-assed one. What's up with that? I do have a cylinder removal clamp but very little else in the way of tools.

They are the most stubborn impossible engine out there with the exception
of the early spark ignition 60's and Bantam 19's
I collect OK Cub engines and love them but fly Cox engines.
Ok was constantly noodling around with crankcase and other areas
That's why all the variations and they can be tough to take apart
About 4 years back I bought 2 024 engines from them
One to collect and one to fly but 3 of us tried
and were never able to get it to run
Their best glo engine was the 29 series especially the dual stack
Contact okengines@aol.com and you can get some help from Ted Breback the owner.

What's going on there? Ted's been telling us for years that he was retiring "next year". Even to the point that he urged people to buy what parts they needed because they would soon all be going in the trash. He must be well past retiring age now. Maybe it's not Ted at all?? Maybe the company is just doing it as a marketing ploy?? It got me to spend my money on a heap of parts, so it must work.

I've gotten both OK Cub tanked "A" and tankless "B" models to run. Their NVA is culprit. I've put silicon tube section, which helps some, but their NVA still leaks some caused by the slitting of the needle valve side of the spray bar. Been considering pulling their NVA and Epoxying a Cox one to solve the problem.
