Cox RC Car
Hello everyone. it has been awhile since I have even logged on. So I thought I would start again by starting with this. It is a Cox powered RC car. Indra and I both cannot identify it. It originally belonged to my uncle. It was given to him by a friend who could not get it going. My uncle never did anything with it. Some years later I showed up and offered to get it going. After I did we went back up there and drove it around a bit. When He saw how much work I had put in it he told me to keep it.
The car had some broken parts. I.e. The parts the hold the wheels to the car. I got that fixed and set it up with and airplane radio but could not get it to go. The engine kept stalling when I tried to get the wheels to stop. Turns out the engine is absolutely shot. So I made my own. I used a sure start pylinder and a crankcase that I ground down on to get it to fit. I used a sure start backplate with throttle. That took some grinding to to let the tube point up with needle valve sideways. After I got that on it the wheels would stop and it drove very nicely. It is pretty quick. It needs some weight in the nose. When it gets up to speed it likes to lift up the front end and get loose with the steering. besides that it is very fun.
Now the reason I am starting this thread is to see if anyone can identify the car. First off, I can say that it is not a Nissan. If it is then it is very atypical. The engine is flipped and the chasis and wheels are different.

Re: Cox RC Car
Looks like it might be a Jerobee. They made them back in 80's and 90's. There was an electric version I had with a "RX brick". The RX, steering servo and throttle were self contained in a sealed plastic box "brick). The charger was a double resistance type thay connected directly to the battey under the hood of my truck.

Re: Cox RC Car
Those do seem to match. The main gear on mine is a Jerobee 58. Each one of those does not match the Chasis though. This one originally has exhaust control with a product engine with space for a integral tank. The tires say GoodYear on them. There is also no space for a driver. It also originally had futaba radio gear in it. Had a AM Futaba Reciever too.
Thought I should add that he also had a tether car that he gave to my uncle. It was won from sending in sprite cans. It is a McCoy. It is possible that he won this one also.
Edit: I now believe that it is a version of the Jerobee.

Just found this site. The yellow car in the lower right matches mine.
