Home made fuel nipple for COX Tee Dee RC carb
A regretfully weak point of the COX Tee Dee RC carburetor is its black plastic fuel nipple. It breaks easily if you forget to be cautious when fiddling with the fuel line:
If you are lucky, you will find a replacement nipple in the webshop of either Bernie or Matt, but currently they are out of stock.
I decided to make my own, more lasting, metal fuel nipple, from a landing gear wheel stop:
and a pressure nipple used on exhaust mufflers:
All I had to do was increase the bore on the wheel stop from 3mm to 4.8mm, and now it slips easily on the COX Tee Dee RC carb spray bar. (This is the same size for the 05 and 09 size TeeDee-s !!). Then, drill out the M3 lock screw thread and tap it to M4 so that the nipple screws into the wheel end.
The result is:
I need to put a M4 counter nut on the pressure nipple stem and some silicone bands on the two faces of the wheel end for a perfect sealing, and I am done....
...as easy as that...the only exotic tool I needed was a 4mm tap, so now I can start serial production...

Re: Home made fuel nipple for COX Tee Dee RC carb
I had one brake on my Tee Dee .051 and had to make my own as well.
I used K&S Brass tubing and made it like the original plastic nipple.
The tubing is a nice fit and it screws on like the original.
Made a fixture for the soldering of the two brass pieces where they come together.
I have made six of them just incase any more of the original nipples break (which they will)
I also flared the end of the fuel side to retain the fuel line better.

Very nice work!
We should have a production version made from aluminum available soon - just doing some final testing.

(I am puzzled if these guys praise mine or sosam's DIY nipple? more likely it is sosam's..anyway I am happy with the makeshift solution I invented. )

balogh,
I think your fuel nipple is just as good as mine.
There is always different types of mouse traps out there.
Yours is the simple way (easier) to make up and mine is for the one that has the extra tools to do it.
I give you many kudos for doing it you way and a way that is any others can do and with what you have on hand.

Yes, I remember! Hopefully something for the 09 will be available again too, albeit on a smaller scale.
Re: Home made fuel nipple for COX Tee Dee RC carb
Hopefully some td09 plastic carb manifolds, I am also searching for an exhaust silencer and complete RC carb.

A "Very nicely done" to each of you. Innovation and solutions to problems take many forms and both of you found a viable fix. Kudos.
