This tip is useful to prevent loosing spinner when using electric starters: Cut a thin rubber gasket from a balloon. Place the gasket between spinner and propeller. Tighten the propeller screw. Friction of rubber gasket keeps the spinner in place.

I needed this one. Thanks a bunch!

My Hornet has spun a few props... especially during break in if my Norvels.

And Monday afternoon in attempt # who knows to enter the RWYB contest, I discovered the Hornet barely has enough sting to spin a Medallion .15. I did blow the fuse under my starter/glowplug panel while trying....grrrr!

My Sullivan 1/2A Hornet Starter has started 2 of my Cox .15's thus far.
I connect direct to the battery.

Sorry but I am not sure which spinner we are talking about. Only Bernie sells a number of different designs ranging from aluminum to rubber and OEM COX plastic spinners. Could you post a picture?

Thank you.

This gasket is for aluminum spinners only.

Rubber balloon material is tricky with punches, so I attached a piece of 1/8 in. brass tubing on tip of soldering iron to open screw hole.

Thank you Levent. My electric starter cone also touches the propeller face so the torque transmits from the cone partly to the spinner and partly to the prop direct, so I have not yet experienced the loosening of the spinner yet...only when the compression is too high and the premature ignition throws both the prop and spinner off, but that is a different situation. Very Happy
