Norvel Needle Needed
I have a Norvel .061 C/L version that I have somehow lost the needle for. Since I for some reason cannot get the Norvel site to let me purchase something and they do not answer emails I came here, Does anybody know where I can purchase a coma table needle for this engine>

Re: Norvel Needle Needed
Phil,
Welcome back...long time, no hear!
What is the email you are using to contact NVEngines?
There was a post either here or on StuntHangar recently (last two months) where the member successfully email ordered his parts. I'll see if it lines up with what I used a few years back.
Yep...https://stunthanger.com/smf/open-forum/is-norvel-still-in-business/msg649997/#msg649997
This was early January 2023.
I quote Ken Cook from the SH post: "The person in the US is Alex, Klondike17@juno.com"

You must register to the site. If that doesn't work use Alex's e-mail which is what I've done for more than 10 years. I just recently purchased some parts within the past 5 months.

Re: Norvel Needle Needed
I also wanted to mention that the items you seek must be on the website and in stock and it must go in the cart. If there's something that won't go into the cart, there's a high probability they don't have it. The other is that they more than likely won't ever have it. Many times Alex will request what you want and he forwards this information to NV. They generally respond quick with a PayPal request and your good to go.

Re: Norvel Needle Needed
I registered at the site and it said I am now registered but must receive a activation link and reply to it. As of yet NO activation link. So I emailed Alex directly at the address you gave. Waiting for a reply. Thanks. Mark

Re: Norvel Needle Needed
I have no idea which engine you have, Big Mig vs AME version. The Big Mig comes with a wire extension so that you can turn it vs the knob itself as it adds about another inch to the length of the needle. If you leave that wire on the needle and you fly the plane and it contacts the ground. It will with 100% certainty bend the spraybar and it will break the crankcase. Cut the wire off of that needle.
Not every Norvel case is the same depending on the years they were made. Some venturi's are glued in, some are bolted in. If this needle is no longer obtainable, a Cox product spraybar and needle is available which will work better anyway and is easily replaceable. The diameter of the Cox spraybar is smaller. Obtain a piece of 5/32" tubing and use it as a bushing to shrink down the hole through the venturi. This bushing requires a break out hole in the middle of it inside the venturi. File a hole through the tubing and then cut the tubing centering this hole. Make the tubing as wide as the venturi. You take the Cox spraybar and clean it for solder preparation. Don't clean the area where the fuel outlet hole is because you don't want any solder there. Solder the spraybar into the 5/32" tubing aligning the fuel outlet hole with the hole in the tubing.
Rough up the outer diameter of the tubing and JB weld it into the case and DON"T get any JB weld near the hole inside the venturi or near where you filed out the tubing. JB weld cleans up rapidly with rubbing alcohol and it will totally remove it and thin it if you use too much. It will not clean it after it's hardened. The only downside to this is that depending on which version venturi Norvel provided, some are a bit wider depending if flats were milled for the stock spraybar. One version used a flanged spraybar which was circular on the end and a flat cut into it. This is narrower allowing the Cox spraybar to project it's nipple end further out. I've had to solder a small piece of tubing onto the spraybar nipple if it's too small.
