OTM Sokol - renovation and maybe handmade conrod for second one
Hi,
As I wrote in the previous topic (LINK) , in the package from Marek @m2z (from Polish forum) there were also OTM Sokol engine. Two .
The first engine was complete and only needed cleaning. From the interesting things, the piston and contra piston remind me a little bit of HEMI engines construction . Of course with a pinch of salt . By the way I'd like to have a car with a old HEMI engine someday
Few photos of the first Sokol:
I started the engine on this configuration:
Prop: MA 8x4 ~10 000 RPM and 9x6 ~7 800 - 8 000 RPM
Fuel: 34% Kerosene, 34% Ether, 15% Motul 710, 15% Castor Oil and 2% Mannol diesel additive
Album with more photos of the engine:

And video:
The engine is very, very loud and runs great. By the way I love the diesel engine sound on the low compression setting .
The second engine unfortunately does not have all the parts. Unfortunately I am only able to make the connecting rod myself. Fortunately a friend from the Polish forum Jacek will send me some parts andmaybe surely this motor will work too .

Good job on the clean up and the run was very good also , is it hard on the engine (Diesel) to run low RPMs ? Seems that would bee what would do the con rod in / bend or break . You must live in the country with all the woods around or you have to get far enough away so as not bother noise haters

Re: OTM Sokol - renovation and maybe handmade conrod for second one
Thanks .
I don't have an diesel engine with a throttle, so here I reduce the revs by reducing compression, I only do it because I like that sound . It seems to me that in this case it is not harmful, because lower compression should not affect conrods. However I'm not an expert .
Those engines (like my OTM Striz) came to me with such conrods. Or without like one of the Sokols. The reason they broke down was probably too much compression combined with too much fuel (and maybe the starter) and also that the original connecting rods were factory weak.
I would like to have a better firing place, but I live in a block of flats and it's hard to have a better one . Perhaps next year I will have something better .
