ENYA 049, 06 engine

Re: ENYA 049, 06 engine
I like those Enyas as well. From the .049 / .06 / .08 and the .10.
Have collected only the front intake (carb) engines. Only one of the rear induction engines.
Hard to get reeds for the rear induction engines.
Here are mine:
Two Enya .06 glow engines waiting on new carbs to replace missing carbs.
One of two - new in box .06 Glow engines ------ also have two Enya .06 diesels (NIB)
My only .049 Enya engines. Rear induction doesn't work -- bad reed and Ken Enya doesn't have any.
Computer disc doesn't work well either.
Have back plate on the engine on the left --180° off. bottom mount is on top (next to head cylinder (oops?)

You can get these carbs on ebay. I was trying to get one to mount on a Cox but with the square base mounting plate I gave up.

Since taking the photos, I have ordered and received new carbs (last of them) from Ken Enya.
They were $12.00 a piece plus shipping came to a total of $33.23.
The one on Ebay is for the Enya 049, Mine are the Enya 06.
The 049 will work on the 06 but for the glow it needs a larger venturi opening.
I have also done a lot of dealings with shtterman. Good dealer --- is ok with returns if part doesn't work.
Made a trade to an Aussie for two Enya 08 diesels for three Cox Texaco engines.
Will get the engines after the pandemic is over.
Also have done a lot of trading with this Aussie for engines.
He sends me engines I like, and I send him engines he can't get there.
Thanks basswood
Asked Ken if he had any 049 / 06 / 08 any where in his warehouse? NONE

Funny thing is, all the photos are of Glow engines, and we are in the Non-Cox Diesel engine section?

I wonder how hard the little Enyas are to find in Japan. (i.e. for Americans living there)

Enya .049 / .06 / .08 and .10 ---- made for Japan.
ticomareado wrote:I wonder how hard the little Enyas are to find in Japan. (i.e. for Americans living there)
I was over in Japan in May 2008. My company sent me over there for 2 weeks.
I had the weekend for myself, Monday through Friday was my work day.
I was at the Isuzu Fujisawa Plant (10 miles from Tokyo) where they were making the Isuzu Trooper.
Found a large toy store. It was like going to the Mall of America! and looked around ( for 1/2 the day).
They have the neatest stuff. R/C motorcycles, cars, planes, almost anything you could imagine.
By the time I left, I looked like one of those women with countless bags on their arms.
Yes, I picked up ½ dozen Enya engines, some electric motors and controllers, small stuff I could pack into suitcase.
If I had enough time and money, I would have taken all the Enya engines in the display case.
I saw plenty of the small 049, 06, 08, and 10 engines. The shop keeper (salesman) said they were made
for Japan to beat the imports engine that size coming into the country. The were made cheaper than the
usually made Enya engines.
If I know what I know now back then I would have snatched up all the little Enyas.
I was more interested in (back then) 20 to 30 size engines and just getting interested in 4-strokes.
I fine it interesting a YouTube video of a Japanese person with a new Enya 06 diesel trying to start it and trying to get it to run.
Also, It's a good You Tube on how not to start a diesel engine (let alone any engine).
The poor Enya is over compressed. The contra piston is too far down towards the piston, that is why it will not run.
I was taught to have the needle valve closed (no fuel), back the compression screw off one turn.
1.) Prime the engine in the exhaust port, then quickly "flip" the prop.
2.) Nothing happens, turn the compression screw in 1/4 turn. then try step #1 again.
Nothing happen again, do step #2.
When it finally runs briefly (runs the prime out) open the needle valve 2 turns and choke the engine.
Most of the time this will get you to the correct setting to start the diesel engine without it being over compressed
and to where you won't bend the connecting rod.
One more thing ---- NEVER USE A STARTER ON A DIESEL THE WAY THE PERSON IN THE YOUTUBE DOES
Here is a You Tube of him abusing a poor PAW engine.
I know for a fact that PAW test runs their engines before they leave the factory.
So the settings are close enough for you to start and run their engines.
At 2:03 you can see he has it over-compressed. It won't turn over.
At the end of the video he says he was successful. At what?
Best one is the Russian MAP-3 engine (2.5cc). Another video of what not to do.

Re: ENYA 049, 06 engine
Tomas,
If you are really want to collect these engines, you need to go to the Japan's version of Ebay called Yahoo Japan Auction.
But the thing is, you need to have a broker to pickup and ship it to you.
Buyee charges $10.00 for each item (broker fee)
If you want to purchase from Yahoo Japan Auction you have to sign up to Buyee.
Here is an Enya engine I have been watching.
https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/b496862802?conversionType=item_browsing_history
It has been reposted twice and each time the price gets lowered.
Originally posted for 22,500 yen (about $220.00) now this 2nd posting is lowered to 19,800 yen (about $196.00)
