Amen...AMEN !!!! All together now! "Heck the dall with houghs of bolly!"
And the REALLY great thing is that, as we read this, somewhere out there ANOTHER mystery is working it's way toward us, hoping we'll de-mystify it!
AND...maybe one of the moderators can either clear all this, OR help Ed start a new thread so he can actually sell his engine !!!!
Let's Take ANOTHER Lap Around the Sun Everybody !

Let it also it be that ED bears me no grudge for raising the question and has thanked me for bring the problems noted to his attention.
Ed knows what he has and knows how to represent it to other prospective buyers.
The whole episode could not have a better ending thanks to this forum.

Can you name a "two stroker" that DOESN'T have baffled piston top?
All:
As I've mentioned before the referenced VECO .19 has been disassembled then re-assembled incorrectly the with pistion installed 90 degrees out of proper alignment. The head as shown is also out of alignment because with the piston that way that's the only the head may be installed.
As shown in the picture the engine will not run much less turn 360 degrees at the crank. The engine needs to be disassembled again the reassembled properly.
The lingering question becomes why was the engine disassembled in the first place and what other problems may exist? There are just too many "unknowns" for me to be interested in the Veco anymore.
I've had some of these Veco .19's in the 70's for car use. The head is probably on right. There is a slot milled in the head to allow clearance for the baffle on the piston. You can't reinstall the piston 90 degrees out of alignment. Only 180 degrees, the wrist pin will not allow anything different. K&B made two heads, one for cars and one for planes.

Controliner:
If you'll scroll up-thread you find how this was solved.
In fact the engine listed is for a car rather than an aircraft.
