I've seen storm troopers, but not chewwie. Might be hard to get the castor oil out of chewwie's fur.

We are going to have a contest next month, I'm sure we will have lots of pictures from that, if I can't get enough before then.roddie wrote:That's a really neat thing! I would definitely like to see more action.. the airplanes.. the release-mechanisms. Very cool!

I hear Charlie was very big in it's day. They sell for a mint now.RknRusty wrote:I showed this to my multi-hobbied flying buddy, only to find out... again... that he's done this. Had one named Charley and dropped him at targets.

how well do you think this would work?
Phil
I was told these chutes don't work well. We are buying our chutes from Robert Deadmond, you can look him up on facebook at RC Skydiving USA. He had picutres of the chutes he has ready there. Usually. I think a two color chute is $150 and three colors are $200.

Well dang Duke was hoping you might say the HK $20 chute was usable.... This is a cool project I would like to try--- but the $150 to $200 just for a chute has me crawfishing sideways a bunch
MY wife is a damned good quilter and seamstress with a LOT of materiel and equipment BUT I would need a sample pf a working chute to even ask here to spend the time

I hoped the HK chute would work too, but Juan had warned me against it. So, since I count him the expert around here, I went with what he said. Now if it didn't work, you would only be out twenty bucks. I happened to get a used chute, so my whole jumper cost $150.
I figure it is a cheap toy compared to some, new hunting rifle, plus the scope, and gun smith, big slope planes, you know. Boys and their toys. I'm just trying to spent my kids inheritance, so the family can't fight over it.

They should sell ODST paratroopers. That's the orbital drop shock troopers from Halo. You'd have to drop it from a rocket lol

What about a scaled design based on the MC1-1C?
http://www.millsmanufacturing.com/products?id=49
It is a "hemi-elliptoid" which probably could be modeled as a hemispherical. There is a lot of information for non-steerable versions available for kite flying enthusiasts and model rocketry.

Seems that making a steerable version wouldn't be too difficult... the "prototype" is mil-spec so much information can be obtained.
