Thanks man, as soon as I complete this final "experiment" I'll send it on it's way! (Bandit)Kim wrote:TDbandit wrote:Hi man, I'm looking at sending my engine in the next couple of days hopefully, anyway I need your address so I can send this little monster to ya. Also I'm including some shims since I broke it in on as well as done all my test n tuning on 25%. If you have any questions let me know. (Bandit)
Here your go:

mounting a Space Hopper
Hi Kim, I plan to send in a Space Hopper; I'll be running it this afternoon. I have it mounted on a ratty old Carl Goldberg wooden stand. Can I send you just the engine?

What class would a Space Hopper enter? Unlimited?

Hey Bill,
Yes, I have test stands for all the engines. Your Space Hopper will be qualified for entry in the Unlimited Class!

Also, just got a call from Ryan, a good fellow in charge of shipping the Cox Super Fuel for Tach Race 2015. The fuel should arrive later this week, and I'll announce once it's safe on the shelf.

Re: Tach Race 2015 Final Wrap-Up
I got my Space Hopper at a local hobby shop flea market. It was wrapped up in a paper towel and thrown into a "Your Choice" $2 bin. I saw the venture sticking out and bought it. It is pretty nice cosmetically. Someone hogged the lower part of the cylinder and the thrust washer was deeply worn from starter use. There was enough slop the crankpin would rub the rear cover so I installed a brass washer at the fron of the case.
I fired it up this afternoon on Sig Fuel, 25% I think and used a 5.5 x 4 gray wide blade Cox prop. 16,000 on the stock head, 16,500 with Galbreath head and Nelson plug (2 washers).
Should I send the engine with the Cox and Galbreath head? Should I send extra washers?
Bill

The engine should arrive with your best combination of heads and gaskets. Other than insuring all parts are tight and ready to go, with a brief run to get it up to temp, the intent is to run them as sent.
P.S. What a deal for 2 bucks !!!

Cool! what content is it 35%? also waiting on a crankshaft so it's gonna be a bit longer than anticipated till I send it (don't quite trust a stock crank with the RPM it's turning) (Bandit)

Re: Tach Race 2015 Final Wrap-Up
Got the shop above freezing a little on the early side the morning, and used my caffeine high to get some photos taken.
These are the first engines to make it to the Skunk Works for Tach Race 2015. They belong to Daryll---"P-40 Warhawk".
Beautiful Engines, Daryll !!!

I bet a stock Babe Bee crank should be safe up to 24K for a good many runs before it surrenders. In my experience the stockers turn faster that the diesel cranks.
I guess I better dust off an engine and get it in the mail. Probably my Reed Speed engine. And maybe a Black Widow I rebuilt a couple of years ago.

I have used Bee cranks the past 2yrs. I posed the question to Paul Gibeault and was told it is doable.

Re: Tach Race 2015 Final Wrap-Up
Cool nice to hear since I decided to just leave the stocker in there and let it rip. It's gonna be a while before the new crank gets here and I'm running out of time. Now if it would just quit raining just for a day I can get one final test n tune session in before I box it up and send it.
