Cox Tether Car gears
Hello all,
I have a friend who restores old arcade machines and he does business with a machinist / gear maker who made me a couple gears for my old Cox cars. He sent them one of my old broken gears about 6 months ago and I just got these.
I added my last n.o.s. gear in the picture for comparison.
The quality, fit and finish looks great! Also, Since there is no source for these gears anywhere that makes new ones and they rarely end up on Fee Bay, I'm going to look into getting them reproduced. The only downfall was that it took me 6 months to get them.

Re: Cox Tether Car gears
I wonder if a stock gear matches the outside and a simple milling or waterjet operation can make the inside...

Re: Cox Tether Car gears
As far as the gear itself goes, it's just a standard 32 pitch gear but it has to be the right thickness as there is a raised ridge on one side of the gear that acts as kind of a stop to keep the gear from sliding off of the wheel hex. Plus I'm not sure how well plastic would stand up the pressure of a water jet.pkrankow wrote:I wonder if a stock gear matches the outside and a simple milling or waterjet operation can make the inside...
