Black Hawk pt-19 pics n stuff like that...
...yeah, the build is goin pretty good (except the parts fit like they were made by a- no offense- blind person )
i've just painted the wing and stabilizer, going to do the rest tomorrow, i'll post some pictures of my progress.
please, if you have any advice how high in relation to the wings the motor should be mounted or stuff like that,
help is kindly appreciated

Put some weight on the outside wing.
Re: Black Hawk pt-19 pics n stuff like that...
yup, i already put a washer that came with the plane just for that purpose on there. i'm going to use dacron line,
altough its got a lot more drag than the dteel wire, but i dont want it to fly that fast anyway.
btw, did you try out your warhawk yet?

yeah, old air force ones!
all right, wing and fuselage are one:
[img] [/img]
i didnt paint the engine mount to prohibit any paint sticking to the engines backplate.

GB,
You NEED to paint the backplate to protect the plywood from fuel and oil. That is one area that needs to be sealed well so it can take a lot of vibration.
One of the things you need to know about the old Scientific kits is that they used a lot of common parts on various planes. One of the common pieces was the firewall.
Your plane is looking good!

Re: Black Hawk pt-19 pics n stuff like that...
oh sorr<, i didnt explain it right.
i put 6 LAYERS of grain sealer on there, which is totally fuel proof. the rest of the plane has three layers of sealer,
and one layer of paint.

What engine will you be using? SureStart? Noticed the slot for the choke tube.
Re: Black Hawk pt-19 pics n stuff like that...
i'm using my 1956 Babe Bee. you're right it is designed fore surestarts, but they are just SO ugly...
Babe Bees got style!
btw, i'm almost finished, i'll post pictures when the tail rudder is on.

Re: Black Hawk pt-19 pics n stuff like that...
You will get pretty short flights with a babe bee I use a little 1/3 oz wedge tank on mine.
Re: Black Hawk pt-19 pics n stuff like that...
i think a 2 minute flight will be enough for me the first few times. i can still put my medallion on there, just gotta
remove the throttle ring.
so, here it is, fully assembled and ready to go:

(and yes, that's chuck norris in the cockpit )

the planes underside...

My first CL plane has those two in it

oh, i like the idea with arny, lthough it isn't a CHOPAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!
@ hlsat
hi, do you mean the red and white fin?
it is set to the right on purpose, so the plane steers slightly out of the flying circle and keeps the lines tight!
glad you like my little piece of wood

A couple of washers under each of the inboard mounting screws to point the engine's thrust angle to the right is important too. I promise it greatly enhances your control. She looks like a great flier. Pretty engine too.GermanBeez wrote:

60 or 30 minute epoxy is the gold standard for fuel proofing the firewall.
If/when the rear section of the fuselage breaks too many times, shorten it so the stab is an inch and a half behind the wing and she'll be a competent stunt trainer.

there's only one thing that confuses me:
how the hell do you do a loop???
wouldn't the control lines get twisted if you don't have a 360 degrees turnable wrist?

Re: Black Hawk pt-19 pics n stuff like that...
yeah, i always wondered why the air force picked those colours for their plane...its not like it's "standing out of the fleet" or anything
btw, are you sure you're going to let yours stay without a proper paint job?
i mean, a natural finish is nice, but the plane looks sort of...well..naked
just my opinion, your business!
but i'm glad i ave these yellow tornado props...thats the cherry on the cake..

Rusty wrote this -
"Leave the lines twisted. With dacron you are safe up to 5 loops, so they say, and when you're experienced you can unwind it by doing outside loops. But it's not necessary. Just remember to unwind it before your next takeoff. They won't bind, you can't even feel they're twisted. When they get all oily they are better. I've put 8 or 10 twists in them and they still work fine. That Bee may cut off when you try an outside loop, so unless you do it on the first 3 laps don't try it."
Re: Black Hawk pt-19 pics n stuff like that...
Cool I think I may try a loop this weekend.
Btw I wax my Dacron for less drag on smaller .010 models.
