(found) .020 back plate
Anyone have one? I just picked up a .020 pee wee and one of the mounting tabs has a crack. Not busted all the way through yet, but I am sure it will give when mounted. Thanks!

Place a drop of CA or a thin coat of J-B weld over the crack. I'll check my parts cabinet, I think all I have is a backplate with one of the filler tubes busted off.
Re: (found) .020 back plate
Lol that's funny, it was bugging me so I put a drop of CA on it just before I saw your reply. I looked at it through a magnifying glass and it is not far from busting on both sides. If you wish to sell your spare with the busted filler tube I would appreciate it. This will be a runner so I only need one tube to fill with. Better than a broken tab mount! Thanks for the reply.

Re: (found) .020 back plate
I actually just noticed it was one of those new backplates with only 1 filler tube. The 1 filler tube is busted off so it would be hard to fill unless you have a syringe with a needle or such. I have a entire tank assembly to go with the busted plate. I was mounting my Pee Wee when I slipped and broke the tube off, so since I couldn't find the backplate alone, I had to order a tank kit from http://www.selecthobbies.com/enginepartsdata.htm#coxengineparts. I just dropped a whole new tank on the engine. If you can, can you send a picture of your backplate? Depending on where it is breaking, you can usually still mount it and use it just fine.
Re: (found) .020 back plate
You can still mount it fine if it's only one many actually only use 2 screws to mount their engines,
Re: (found) .020 back plate
Admin,
Thanks for that link, tanks are a bit pricey, but good to know that they still exist. Nitro, for now I will mount with three. Learning as I go, seems there are not too many parts out there.
Thanks for the help and advice!

Yeah, I noticed he raised the price on them quite a bit. When I bought mine, I believe it was around $10 or so.

Re: (found) .020 back plate
I found a place that has 1 Pee Wee backplate left. I think his prices are in pounds so £13.10 so about $18.53 or so.

Cribbs,
Have you thought of either soldering or better yet, brazing the craked lug in place? Just be careful not to get the backplate too hot. Placing it on a heat sink of any sort would help.

Bob,
Tried solder. No go. Just wouldn't flow into the crack. Brazing may work but the heat may be a bit much. Especially since the metal is so thin in that area.
Admin,
I will check out that site. Thanks for taking the time to find it!

Hi Ron if you encounter any problems with shipping to the USA you can get it sent to me and I will send it on to you.
Re: (found) .020 back plate
Thanks for the offer Nitro, I did the math and If I add shipping from across the pond the cost is the same, maybe a tad more. OTOH If you want to help me with shipping parts for my MGA and Triumph Trident restoration I may take you up on the offer...... LOL just kidding. Take Care

Well what parts do you need for your triumph?
Re: (found) .020 back plate
Hey Nitro,
Right now it's all about airplanes. The Triumph is on the wayside for now..... I am about to move house soon so I will prob go down that road in the next year. Most parts are readily available in the US mostly due to the amount that were exported from the Meridian factory. If I get in a squeeze I may take you up on the offer. Thanks a bunch!

Re: (found) .020 back plate
Still looking...... The tab decided to let go entirely. Surely someone out there has a good used one floating around in the parts bin
Not trying to be a cheapskate, but I have bought complete engines for the prices they are asking for them online. Thanks for the help either way.
