I'm with Phil on the tools.pkrankow wrote:Bottom taps for case bolts
High quality screwdrivers in the proper sizes with substantial handles. I snapped off a new screwdriver recently trying to loosen the case screws on a bee...
Phil
2-56 bottoming taps especially, are a staple.

Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
Screwdrivers, mini-pliers, mini-sander, Xacto knives, etc are on our "look-into" list.
You mean a tap to rework the screw holes on the 049 crankcases?

yes, that tap.
Instead of the screwdriver, just the bits for the 1/4 inch drivers that everybody probably has in their tool kit. The small sizes only seem to only come in large assortments, and the quality is dicey unless a fortune is spent on a top quality assortment. If you can get good quality bits that might work as good or better than an entire screwdriver.

Correct Bernie. Most cases aren't threaded all the way in.Cox International wrote:Screwdrivers, mini-pliers, mini-sander, Xacto knives, etc are on our "look-into" list.

This can be a problem sometimes when using 3/4" or 1" screws on tanked engines.
From what I've seen, Cox used to use slightly shorter (1/16"shorter) screws.
Fully threading the case solves the problem.

Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
I bought a Chinese 2-56 bottoming tap on the Bay for less than $3 and it works great. Quality is fine. It's a must have item for any Bee mechanic.

Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
Hint
DU-BRO Cat 360 is a 2-56 tap and drill
...not a bottoming tap but the point is so small that it only restricts 1/2 of one thread....if you have to get that last thread cut, you just file the point off the tap.
DU-BRO Cat 361 is 4-40 tap and drill
DU-BRO Cat 362 is 6-32 tap and drill

Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
Thanks for all the suggestions and I will look into the tooling.
On my list is also servo mounting tape, clevises, hinges, building pins, rubber bands, castor oil.

Thumbs up on the castor oil Bernie.

Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
Same here on the Castor Oil! Some good Baker's Grade AA or the more expensive medical grade U.S.P. (United States Pharmacopoeia) which is the same as Baker's AA only it is more closely inspected for food/medical use and usually priced higher. Both have been degummed. The stuff you would get from Byron and Sig would be Baker's AA and the stuff you would get at the drug store sold as a laxative would be USP. The bike racing shop next to Hub Hobby has Castrol M which is a castor based racing motor oil, it is a little pricey, I have not tried it myself but I have heard it is some of the best stuff out there. I have also bought castor oil remarketed as a mole repellant. http://www.victorpest.com/store/mole-and-gopher-control/s8002 It is 100% USP, great if you are out for more than a small 4oz bottle from your drug store and you don't feel like ordering anything offline.
Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
For a castor oil product, you might also consider Klotz BeNol.
I've used it for years as an additive with good results. It is also the castor product used by many fuel supplies as part of their lube package.

Oh yeah the Klotz BeNol, that's some high quality stuff!
Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
I think what we will sell will be the castor oil from SIG, repackaged into competively priced 4oz bottles, or maybe even 6oz bottles.

http://coxengines.ca/5cc-fuel-tank-for-cox-049-engine.html
Can the small fuel tank be made into the stunt configuration without costing a fortune?
I can't believe I am the only person who wants a short run stunt tank, but I would believe it is a small market.
I am trying to make one for myself with JBweld and aluminum tubing since I cannot locate the proper solder for aluminum without spending a small fortune.

Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
We can make them for you, no problem, and pricing would be a buck less than the 8cc ones.
Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
JB Weld does not work as it melts when in contact with Nitro - we tried that already. Our glue costs $30/ounce.
Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
OK then...I wasn't expecting nitromethane to melt JB weld. I figured they would be similar in price to the 8cc tanks. Currently I only want 1, but if these are gonna be made special just for me I'll take 2.
I don't need a super fast lead time on these, kinda cold for flying right now.

Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
Silver ones you can have for tomorrow, black, red, golden and blue would have to wait until we get the next batch of whatever parts anodized in that colour (could be a month or two for red, black and golden and many months for blue)
Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
Silver is fine.
Are these soldered or glued? (doesn't matter as long as they work properly, just curious)
Can you PM or post a link for me?

Re: Need your help with new product suggestions
The 5cc stunt vented tank was used
on the Cox Mercedes Grand Prix Racer.
(now for the collective -"I knew that")
I always wanted one, now I can get one.

Admin wrote:How about some of these (if you don't already have them listed). They fit .020 and .049 mounting lugs perfectly!
They are Item Number 21004 and according to the Ace Hardware sticker on the box, I paid $6.29 for the full box.
I use a allen head screw for mine, I really like it a lot better then a conventional screw.
