1/2A hydroplane: "Miss Thriftway" kit is.................
Now long out of production but highly desireable it commands a handsone price. The kit was by Dumas models and is 18" LOA. (length over all)
It was in one of these that I ran the "mystery" Cox .049 shown in the pixs. Mine now sits nitro and caster oil saturated awaiting my renewed interest.
May be, some day...............................

That's the hydro alright but I have the deteriorated carcass of my old old one from which to make patterns.

At first I ran mine and didn't know where or when it would run out of fuel. This often meant rowing a considerable distance to retreive it. Then I ran it with a rudder fix to run it in a circle the only problem if the prop became fouled with weed the engine would SCREAM in protest as the prop cavitated.
This, happening several times I consider the engine well "broken in".
