Scrouging mysteries
I've come up with two parts for Coxes:
- a Kardan (German) tank extender for a BW
- a white nylon cylindrical tank tank that apprently fits onto some sort of backplate
Need any information on your experiences with them, pleez.

Yes that's the cylindical nylon tank. I am undertain of the engine application or how it attaches however. Ideas?
The Kardan BW tank extender is self-explantory. I'd like to know if they are any good in actual useage: do they leak or cause other problems? Being in Germany, you may have has some experiences with them.

Re: Scrouging mysteries
actually, kavan is pretty high quality and rather expensive at times, so it should fit perfectly and not leak at all.
as to the nylon tank, it probably is meant to be used in hollow fuselage airplanes (do they call it that?), and you
basically just stick it in there. it "snaps" right in.

The Blackhawk model series feature a "hollow" fuse aka "hollow log". Seems to me a "snap in" tank would be prone to leak causing nitro saturation within the fuse.

I have no such certainly until proven in actual useage by others) .

The white plastic tanks were used on the many of the Cox plastic RTF C/L airplanes. These include the PT-19, EZ Fyler series, and Texan...there are many more. You would have to custom fabricate a top for it to be useful outside of the OEM application.
In regards to the Kavan tank extenders, they are good, but they do leak. I would suggest that you put a bead of silicone around the tank where it matches if you are going to use it. Also, do not over-tighten the screws that Kavan provides. They are notorious for breaking since the material they are made from is not very strong.

Yes I've considered 'coning the tank to seal it but, until I find a use for the tank, I'll defer the 'coning.
I believe there are more suitable tanks for my current applications.
Thanks for your response.

Yeah, it should work, but pretty much any other external tank would probably be easier.

Re: Scrouging mysteries
I have sealed tanks with oil resistant black Permatex from the auto parts store. It will stay sealed until you find some reason to disassemble the piece. I use it between BW crankcases and the 8cc tanks which I have had leak on a couple of engines. In regards to the Kavan tank extenders, they are good, but they do leak.
