OK, then let's talk hot dogs an not chicken.
A good Seattle Mariner Hot Dog with deli mustard and a lightly toasted bun beats ANY chicken hands down especially when combined with "an adult beverage" of your choice.
I like Dos Equis lager best of all.
Salute!

A country store hotdog
My favorite dog is few and far between nowadays. It didn't have a special name, but I just called it a country store hotdog. I always had mine with chilli and sometimes diced onions. The bun was steamed, not toasted, not cold.
The flavor didn't resemble any dog I ever had at home or a hotdog cart or restaurant. The difference was in the chilli, but I never figured it out until I read Atlanta columnist Lewis Grizzard describe the same thing. I couldn't believe it when I saw what he wrote. The simple secret was the chilli had mustard mixed into it, and none on the dog itself. It gave it a special tang that is unmatched. A quality wiener is of course necessary too. Unfortunately, so is a country store. They've all been brushed aside or bought out by some entrepreneur who is clueless about the hotdog that drew in more business than he ever knew. What a waste of an American icon.

Re: KFC or Chick Fil-A
Yah, but the chili masks the taste of the dog so it's not really a taste of the dog that makes the combination memorable. The Marier (as in Seattle) hot dog stands by itself unexcelled IMO; no onions, relish just some deli mustard.
Grilled on the Q with a "suds" on the side, it makes Seattle what the mariners aren't: A WINNER!

Re: KFC or Chick Fil-A
Well, there are several places that has great dogs! Our A&W used to have good hot dogs. It wasn't like other A&W's I've been to, ours got their hot dogs from a local butcher shop. Just last year, our A&W drive-in closed so that was the end to that. Another place that has good hot dogs is the Sams Club snack counter. That snack counter must make quite some money as there is always a line at it. Peters hot dogs are quite good as well, I only usually have them when I'm at the state fair but there is a stand in the local mall.
Re: KFC or Chick Fil-A
Hmm, the best dogs are probably at chicago ohare.
Its called americas dog, i think. The owner and his
Friend once did a tour through the usa, and gathered
All the local hot dog recipes. They are dee-licious!
I also like the foot long dogs they have at the louisville
Baseball stadium... With some kettle baked tater chips/crisps

Re: KFC or Chick Fil-A
You know, I have no idea what a Chick Fil-A is, we don't have them in Northern California. Our KFC's are combined with A&W Root Beer too....
But now the straying to hot dogs reminds me of something that happened a few months back. I went to Costco for some things and picked up one of their $5 rotisserie cooked chickens. Yum - what a deal. We get 2 dinners and a lunch for me minimum out of it (just two of us here). Anyway, as I go to the checkout line and place my chicken on the conveyor belt, the woman in line ahead of me remarks how good it smells. I respond back "Yea, they're great!". She says "Oh, but I am afraid to eat them. You never know what they inject them with" then turns to the checker "two foot long hot dogs, please!"
Top Dog in Oakland/Berkeley are the best around the SF area.

Re: KFC or Chick Fil-A
On the subject of COSTCO and their "dogs" I find them no more than mediocre. But when there, $1.79 for a polish and a pop often enticeses me to succumb to mediocrity as my wife is shopping.
Agree that the "plumped" rotissarie chickens are a tasty and econmical value from which we get several meals.
But in no way do I consider the above "premier" offerings.

Being a gourmand (as opposed to a gourmet), I hardily disagree. (A gourmand is a person with fine tastes, while gourmet is a style of cooking) Look it up.
There ARE exotic hot dogs but not known by that name because of the pedestrian implications of commonality.
Names like "Tube Steak" only further disgrace the common hot dog.

Even a common "Corn Dog" can be done up with garnishes up to your imagination.

At the annual fair here, you can get just about anything deep fried. Snickers, Oreos, Reeses Cups, Coke-a-cola, Pepsi, it's crazy.
Speaking of hot-dogs, just had one for lunch. With something called "hot dog chili sauce" and some mustard....
Re: KFC or Chick Fil-A
yep, deep fried oreos are AWESOME!
almost as good as a grilled banana witha molten snickers bar inside!
