Draco Goes Flying, But Misses the Eclipse

Draco Goes Flying, But Misses the Eclipse
So, sometimes a Red Neck just gets overwhelmed.
I'd planned on flying Draco during the totality of last week's solar eclipse. Got everything set up (I thought), with some drones, videos cameras and Draco locked and loaded with 4 GoPros.
BUT, I fooled around way too long with my big video camera, and blew through my 4 minutes of darkness, watching the whole thing like a neanderthal staring at fire. By the time I got Draco cranked up, the backside of the eclipse had burst the Hill into sunlight, but I figured to just go ahead and have a flying day in the somewhat calm air that hadn't been around in the past few weeks.
So, here's Draco, playing over the hill. The sun is still partially blocked, but is so bright that the GoPros couldn't discern it with the settings I'd chosen.
Hope all my buds made it safely through the event with functioning retinas!

Re: Draco Goes Flying, But Misses the Eclipse
Wow this plane seems efficient and maneuverable it must be fun to fly me the only real good big model that I have electric needs a servomotor for the rudder and that I reassemble the hinges lost ruder last flight 7 years ago it would be time for me to repair it, it's a 3D plane à carbon yak 54 on 4s i imagine that on 6s the draco must be very fast and capable of 3d maneuvers. I like the eflight plane your plane has a very good integrated stabilization system which makes it capable of flying in the wind without problem it's a big plane with 2 meters of wing

Interesting and quality video as always Kim…. You could give the professional drone video guys a run for the money!…. Great flying and good post eclipse shots of the sun anyway….Not so easy to line up on something like that….Electric power is just so convenient for flights like this…. Doesn’t have the noise and drama of the castor slingers though…. Like you, I like to enjoy a little bit of both

Re: Draco Goes Flying, But Misses the Eclipse
Hi Kim,
Thanks. I like the footage of Drako, 'Looping above Earth'...
And, 'under the wire' landings...
I somehow flew through 6min of 'Totality' here just west of Toronto, CAN.
Actually, almost boring. Did not get "Dark' too bad, and I kept flying.
Landed. Sun came back to the semi clouded day, like the hour before.
I did have a technical problem though.
I timed everything to the minute/second.
Takeoff 3:10, Land 3:30. Totality was 3:19.
It all worked well,
Other than my vintage Sony Walkman with new ear phones,
With an original well played Dark Side of the Moon cassette tape.
Great Gig in the Sky was still playing.
When the 20min timer went off.
I landed when the song was over.
There was a 20 second difference.
I somehow have 'stretched' that cassette tape over decades,
Or?
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave
