it started!
i ordered a new pipe as the one i was using was too big and kept on slipping off and i used some new batteries and it started, it ran until i started adjusting the needle and it quit but it means it works and wasn't a waste of money.

Rather than pay him what you think the engine and and your time are worth, I'd reward his good service by paying the asking price. To quibble with such arbitary calls seems quite beyond common descency.
Just my thought of course.

I also prefer front rotor engines I have never been a fan of Redford although I do quite like the pee wees[/quote]
I liked Redford in "The Electric Horseman" where he portrayed the phoney he really is.

SuperDave,
The seller and I already exchanged messages through eBay, and I told him in the beginning that the only problem I had was the item description. "Ready to run" and locked up are two entirely different things, in my opinion.
I'm not totally comfortable "rewarding" his good service, because he stated "ready to run". I also explained to him that I wouldn't have bought the engine in the first place, if I had known the engine was locked up. Locked up is too much of a risk. It might run, it might NOT. Again...what does "Ready to run" mean? Does it mean I should heat the crankcase with a heat gun to free it up?
He'll get paid. Partly for his refunding my money, partly because I can't rip someone off, in good conscience.
I can't understand why you would mention "common decency". I'm not the one who listed an item on eBay, and didn't include the words "locked up" in the description.
No offense, By the way...Just my thought. If I had known the engine was locked up, I wouldn't have paid for it...and he wouldn't have issued me a total refund.

OK, I got it, now...maybe you should turn off the "auto correct" on your iPhone.
Allen
I wish I could find how to do that on my iPad... But I can't... A pain in the rear. I'm not sure you can do it on the iPhone either. I am amazed at how many "features" are missing from the iphone that were on older phones ... Like a beep that let's you know you missed a call or there is a voice mail...
Nitroairplane - I was wondering what your problem was... I just figured you couldn't type and didn't proof read. Lol

No the prop that you had in the picture was 8 inches but it will run on that.
Re: help! it wont start
That was a great cleaning article.
One thing I would like to add is when I use Cox wrenches, I always cut a square of heavy ziploc bag (1 thickness - not the whole bag) or someother medium thickness plastic bag between the wrench and the motor.
If you do it right, you will not leave any wrench marks whatsoever on your engine - providing it was not over-tightened or stuck to start with. Just be sure you have your wrench located properly when your ready to put the power to it. That's the main problem with being able to not leave marks.
Another tip on not leaving marks is if your only using one side of the wrench, look to see what side of the wrench fits best. The wrenches are metal stampings and one will be the "burr" edge and the other side will be the "stamped" edge.
The burr edge will be on size better but will have no radius (sharper) so be careful.

This thread has drifted seriously off course. Suggest we "axe" before it goes even further.
