Wanted Cox Medallion .15 spray bars

Post  944_Jim Sun Nov 07, 2021 9:45 am

Hi Guys,

I have a BHM clone of the Scientific Challenger kit (34" WS version of the Musciano 44" Challenger) kit in hand. I also have a Midwest 33" Mustang.

I want to power each of these with on-hand Medallion .15s. Yes, the same story as the Medallion .09s from the other thread (one has damaged linkage, the other has complete linkage). Once again, I didn't think it would be tough to find the CL spray bars for these guys...must be why the price was so good.
However, in this situation I do have a Norvel Big Mig and OS-LA-S in the same displacement so my engine choice is a little more flexible.

I have been watching Cox International and EX Model Engines with no joy.
I would even consider having suitable replacements made if I could find a machinist with the skills.

Oh, and again, the throttle pieces are up for grabs to whomever can help get these engines running.

TIA!

I have nothing like that but often when there is a missing needle, I just plug it with solder and use a remote needle. That would work if you at least have a spray bar and don't mind paying for a remote needle assembly. Sometimes even a pressure fitting into the carb hole is enough. A medallion likely should reach all the way across though.

Aspeed,
I appreciate what you are saying...and your work on RCG. These Medallions use a very thick spray bar with one side ground flat. The spray bar rotates in the body with the full width rotated as a throttle in one position, and rotating the assembly to put the flattened spot in line with airflow...thus exposing more open area across the venturi.

I do like the idea of a remote needle, and may consider this idea more. In the end, I need to build the planes. Time to get out of excuse alley and into the air stream!

Thanks for prompting the thinking juices to the surface!
