surestart throttle ring
Just wondering if anyone has had any exp with this throttle barrel? Waiting on gasket ring kit from EX Engines to try it out and just wondering if I might be wasting my time? I have had many cox engines but never one with throttle control. Ive looked at all the cox throttle options but never seen this one This is a surestart cylinder turned down on a lathe like 1/2 a thou. If anything Id like to have the ability to stall the engine if needed, any input would be greatly appreciated!
Sorry for the blurry pics, Thanks all

Re: surestart throttle ring
hello, the acceleration ring system, it is very effective, really effective.
I use commercial .049 rings and make my own rings for my engines as well.
You can use it safely, you will really like the result.
You can see some of my videos where I use regulation rings.

Re: surestart throttle ring
getback says ur pretty much the man when it comes to throttling these little engines. Do they all work about the same or are some better than others providing ur engine is running like its suppose to? thanks MauricioBMauricioB wrote:hello, the acceleration ring system, it is very effective, really effective.

Re: surestart throttle ring
The acceleration ring in aluminum alloy depends directly on the type of alloy and the thickness of the ring wall.
The effectiveness of the aluminum alloy ring can be affected because the expansion of the metals is different (between the iron cylinder and the aluminum alloy ring), when this expansion is different as the engine takes temperature, the effectiveness is affected as the stretch fit ratio changes. So, your aluminum alloy ring will be effective if and only if, the expansion ratio between cylinder and ring is maintained, that will depend as I said before, on the type of alloy of your ring and the thickness of the wall of the ring itself.
This is a Cox Tee Dee .09 r / c engine. The throttle ring is self-made in aluminum alloy, as you can see there is a reduction in thickness that I made to achieve the best engine performance in all speed ranges.
(surely if you buy a throttle ring from a genuine Cox engines representative, this will already be calculated)
Hope you can understand me.

Re: surestart throttle ring
Thank you MauricioB. makes perfect sense. Now I wish it was metal but anyway I gor my gasket kit today so ill put her together and give her a shot. Ill post my experience with this throttle sleve. Thanks again MBMauricioB wrote:The acceleration ring in aluminum alloy depends directly on the type of alloy and the thickness of the ring wall.
