Cavacraft Fokker D-7

Cavacraft Fokker D-7
Here is a little eye candy for a Sunday afternoon. I got this from a local friend of mine who haunts yard sales and garage sales. I was awar4e of the brand name, Cavacraft, as I have a couple of other old kits by them. This is a Fokker D-7 and is a Almost Ready To cover "kit", long before many of us were ever aware of such a thing. There were lots of kits made in the 40s, 50 and such that had a lot of prefabrication or machined parts in them to allow for quick assembly. There is paper work with the kit but no plans. It would be nice to try and build a replica as it looks like it would fly pretty well. It has some nice proportions to it. This is one I think I'll keep for a while longer, and maybe figure out how to draw up some plans for it. I hate to unpack it, though as I never have so far and it just looks like it's never been unpacked.

What a great find Dan!! A+ box art too.
I wouldn't touch it either, but do my best to build a replica. Looks like a "hollow log" fuselage like a Scientific Musciano kit. Does it have a "flying tail" or a fixed horizontal stab and a moveable elevator?
I'm trying to figure out how to do this Fokker Dr-1 by Cox. For some reason they made it with a pivoting flying tail.
Got another one to do too.

Re: Cavacraft Fokker D-7
I keep coming back to this thread, I love the model and the box art work, brings back memories of walking home from school past the bike shop and looking at all the CL model kits they had in their front window. (60s and early 70s) I would look and look at them and the cover art, but never owned one. I built my own from scratch with balsa mum bought for me, which was cheaper and to be honest I learnt heaps.
I have an odd question, maybe Im missing something here. The model is a Fokker D7 but the Box art shows the plane being sold in the box being shot down!! Is that the lid for the box the D7 came in? or a lid from a different model? Just seems odd if it is the lid for the D7, you would think it would show the D7 in Victory Maybe its just a reflection of the time period

I'm thinking that they also offered the Sopwith Camel and used the same box art for both. Not exactly the Camel shown though.
