Help, Cox TD 09 parts

Help, Cox TD 09 parts
Help....
Cox 049 parts are relatively easy to get in UK, Dens model supplies.
Cox td09 parts are niegh on impossible, unless Cox international have them in stock as den can get the parts from them.
The parts needed to get the pair of td09' s running are available, some from mecoa and some from exengines.com.
Getting 2 small orders ( about 60 dollars USA plus carriage each, plus carriage to uk ) to the UK is really difficult, see mecoa minimum order for UK !
So, being a bit cheaky, could someone "volunteer" in principle, to help out.
I have the money, that's no problem, it's getting the parts sent to me.
In principle, the volunteer could purchase the parts needed, some from exengines, the others from mecoa. Once the volunteer has all the parts needed, they could then sent them to me in Wales, UK.
I would have to find a way of getting monies to the volunteer to cover all costs at the begining or mid task, there would have to be trust on both parties.
I don't want my name to be mud on here...
Anyone able to help in principle ?
I can send pictures of the 09's and a full list and part numbers of parts needed, glow heads STD, glow plugs and adaptor heads, prop screws, the black plastic Venturi holders and possibly on exhaust silencer unit.
Thanks for reading, stay safe out there...rich.

Question...
Can a td09 be converted into an RC version by using the red medallion carb body along with the spray bar and needle and other parts ?
This may be a way of bumping up a mecoa order to the 180 or so dollar minimum order for shipping to UK, so I can buy direct .

Well yes and no-to create an RC Medallion-you would need the rotating exhaust throttle-as the Medallion carb assembly is a simple venturi, moulded in plastic-there is no provision for fitting an R/C type carburetor to the Medallion. There WAS an RC TD 09 produced for a while in the 90s-and this is feasible to do ...IF you can find a complete Cox 09 carburetor. The Cox made unit screws into the existing TD 09 carb housing in place of the standard venturi.
Other than a brief period in the 60s where an R/C conversion kit was offered for the Medallion 09 and 15, the Medallions have used exhaust throttle ring setups-and even the 60s kit used a mixture of exhaust and intake throttling..
If you want to make an R/C TD09 you would have to do this as AFAIK there were no TD's produced with the outside of the cylinder ground to take an exhaust throttle-this was strictly kept for the Medallions. On top of that-the TD 09 uses SPI-and that does not sit too well with an intake throttle-it plays merry hell with trying to get a decent idle-the TD 05 RC used a special TD cylinder with the SPI removed-and I would assume the TD09 RC did so as well....this doubly so as both used mufflers as standard fittings-and mufflers and SPI is also a bad combination-leading to a large power loss.
You COULD use a standard TD fitted with the Cox throttle assembly without a muffler-but that is unlikely to endear you to the neighbors or your fellow clubmates.
Finally-if you have access to machining facilities-you could consider fitting a non OEM carb to the TD-something like and OS 10 or an Enya 09 carb-but this would require the machining up of a custom adaptor to mate the carb to the threaded Cox TD09 intake assembly...and you may have issues with needle access/prop clearance-as the non OEM carb will sit both higher and further forward because of the adaptor...
So YES-it CAN be done....but it won't be cheap...and the result may not be as effective as another brand of 09 RC engine...

PS AFAIK the TD RC 09 muffler is the same as the Queen Bee 074 muffler-which makes reasonable sense as the cylinder outside dimensions are the same....but neither seem to pop up on sale very often...

Re: Help, Cox TD 09 parts
I went through the process of trying to arrange the same deal as you some time ago, except to Australia. I must say, there were a number of generous & willing CEF helpers put their hands up, but when I investigated further, the postage cost was going to be practically the same as shipping directly from MECOA. I don't recall a minimum purchase requirement, but they did advise that insurance now needed to be included, the cost of which prompted me to look at alternative arrangements. What I really need to do is contact MECOA with my shopping list and get a firm estimate. My experience with communicating with them is not all that positive. They do tend to discourage people from contacting them direct and when you do, responses are either delayed or non-existent. It's a shame really because they do have a lot of stuff that I'd purchase if only the purchasing experience was simpler. I've done so in the past (pre-insurance requirement) and I have no real complaints about their service or products. For some reason they don't ship outside the USA at all from their ebay store. It's a little confusing really as I would have thought that any business in this day and age would have been doing their best to improve their turnover.

Thanks for the replies.
I think the "problem" has partially been resolved.
Exmodelengines have some of the parts needed and will be ordered today.
Matt ( thanks Matt ) has great customer service and will be stocking in house plastic carb bodies, adapter heads and glow plugs.
I have requested these parts and when they are in stock he will email me, so I can order.
Thanks Matt, great customer service.
I will ponder on an RC conversion for one of the TD's I have as they are an "animal" at full song and would benefit being "tamed", a model streaking about the sky at full chat can be a handful sometimes, mini skyman wing warping causing a very violent reaction ! But I didn't crash it thank god .
Thanks again Matt at exmodelengines and cef, thanks.

Re: Help, Cox TD 09 parts
I would be happy to help if needed.
That said Exmodelengines and Cox International have a pseudo partnership where they will drop ship items from one place to another. This allows you only have to pay shipping once.
If you need me to ship to you I would be happy to help.
