Oiling hole on conrod lower end
Early production TeeDee 049/51 engines have an oiling hole on the conrod lower end.
The conrod to crankpin fit also seems tighter than with engines without the oiling hole, given that in lack of the oiling hole, the access of oil to the pin running surface is ensured by a little sloppier fit. Is this assumption correct? Has anyone measured the crankpin and conrod bottom end diameters in oldstock TeeDees having the oiling hole, and later TeeDee-s without it?

I think you may just have a tight fitting rod. Shouldn’t be any different than the normal one. Best way to see is try and fit a newer rod on it.

Re: Oiling hole on conrod lower end
Thanks Ron..the cylindrer has kinda grown into the crankcase thanks to almost 6 decades of sitting in caking castor..I will run her to loosen up the threads then dismantle to see how a new rod fits.
