Aluminium backplates for Cox .049 tanked engines
Finally here!
They are REALLY nice and look better than in the pictures (megapixel camera). Please note that any orders containing these backplates will be subject to a shipping delay (up to February 26) as we are assembling them, one by one.

SWEEET! ! although it might be a trivial detail, but I think the pictures of the alum tanks are reversed, non vent shows filler, vented shows no filler? ? IDK, am I looking at them wrong?

I got rid of the other thread Bernie. Hope you don’t mind.
Happy to see some metal backplates, hope they sell well. Are you making another run once these sell out?

I certainly can't speak for Bernie, but maybe if this current venture (.049 Backplates) is a big-time success, it would seem to surely oil the skids for future attempts at bringing us newly manufactured parts for our wonderful little engines.

I am spending money with Bernie! (ordered .049 stuff last night)
there are 8 .049s on my workbench, completely disassembled, will get cleaned and polished tonight, when the parts arrive, will reassemble all of them.
i have an .020 PeeWee that I want to put on a free-flight balsa kit... probably a R/N models "Patriot" - it needs a better backplate
I also have an .020 TeeDee, but still in box, and I cannot bring myself to unbox it to use it.
As Im getting older, vintage stick and tissue kits are fun to build, relax my mind as I concentrate on them, and fun to fly.
Rubber Bands only get ya so far. I want to get back into FF Gas......
I've also thought about applying my weak skills in the machine shop, to make a crankcase and crankshaft for a twin.. who knows...
it took me about 10 minutes to wash the smell of old castor oil off my hands last night. that was very fun.

Doubt it... too small a market.
Last year we received about two dozen of the OEM ones and it took us months to sell them.

If you send a note to "support@coxengines.com" with your name, we will add this to our "wanted" list. There are currently three prior requests for this part on the list.

We don't have any of those exhaust collectors and, to be quite frank, they are extremely poor sellers. A few years ago we ended up with about a dozen of them from an estate sale and it took us almost 6 months to sell them.
To achieve a reasonable retail price in the $10 range, we would have to get at least 500 manufactured and to manufacture a 20-year supply and only see a return on investment after 10 years, is not something that we can do. We probably won't even be around by then
We have manufactured a multitude of what we were led to believe would be "petits pais chauds" (hotcakes) that, 5 - 10 years later, we are still sitting on over 50% of the stock.
And, yes, French is my second language after my mother tongue German
Re: Aluminium backplates for Cox .049 tanked engines
Those look fantastic Bernie!
I'm definitely going to have to place an order for a few of them, probably the stunt tank version. Any chance you'll get any anodized a brass color in the future?

Sorry but zero chance of another colour anodizing at this point. We even debated whether to offer in two colours instead of one colour. Technically, we could include a few when we do our nexrt run of red anodizing but don't think that this will really be beneficial to sales. If someone would like an alu version over a Nylon one, the culour will presumably not be of utmost importance.
