That's quite an achievement. I see the possibility of a applying a BEC circuit for a remote start.. that might actually be lightweight enough for an RC model aircraft application. Imagine the possibilities for a remote-starting Jomac/Jerobee car model.. Even a free-running direct-drive land-vehicle could benefit. What a great challenge for the Cox .020/.049 class tether-cars for a straight-line tethered drag-strip match-up. Rig the cars with starters.. and a hardwired glow-head/plug harness. Use insulated break-away connections on the rear bumper for Gv (Glow-voltage) and Sv (Starter voltage).
One master-switch warms both car's glow-plugs.. and another master-switch feeds both car's starter-motors.
Question is; will an engine start reliably.. given a momentary burst of Sv? It's a new year.. with new possibilities.

First photo struck a chord, Roddie.
I saw Roger Lindamood at N.Y.National Speedway(Moriches N.Y.)
in 1970. The track is long gone. Cause for time travel.

could not really tell from video if it has a one way clutch/bearing....Cox RPM on the drive gear to the small pinion on electric motor is gonna blow up that DC can motor spectacularly
ha it does have a spraq clutch....first time I watched no sound.....as Rosan Rosana Danna used to say....nevermind

yea.. what this modeler has achieved is a pretty big deal.. IMO. I cant tell if the carb-body is stock.. or whether he machined one to suit the starter-mounting. Could he have designed a bracket to key-into the front of the/a carb-body.. and between the prop-driver, using the clearance that a thrust washer would take-up?

And using our new aluminium fuel tank
Speaking of, we are now sold out TD 010 and TD 020 fuel tanks and 010 carb bodies. New stock should arrive by mid-February

Very interesting device. A mechanical achievement for small engines.

Missed your post, Bernie. I found out this engine from a post on the Cox Engine group in Facebook early this morning, and as such posted under for sale section. Yes, interesting that the electric starter system does seem to work.
