Cox Engine of The Month
Number 17..............

Number 17..............
Not that I'm bragging or anything, these just keep following me home. Truth be known, I'm not actually in love with them.
Fragile, difficult to start and maintain they can be a major pain. But when they run it's a sight to behold.
This one, my first at less than $100, $91 and $5.00 shipping. Missing an engine, not a problem. Missing the driveshaft too? Dunno for sure but Mud saved me once on these maybe another. Any way it's so much better than old #2 when I got it.
Spokes and hubcaps intact, a major plus.. Also the chrome and windshield look fine. Made my one-time proxy bid and watched the nibblers nibble it up. Frankly I did not expect to get it.

Just keep rubbing it in! Lol. Good buy Bob, maybe you should use #2 as a parts donor?

Looks nice. Will this be a runner, or another fabulous restoration?

Re: Number 17..............
Old #2 is a sentimental favorite Ron, my first and worst purchase and the only one (so far) that I have actually ran.
With Mud's help #17 will fall mid pack condition wise. The front axle is rusted and coated with castor, been there several times. The engines cradle and drive shaft, and one rear-view mirror are missing and who knows what else. Nothing that can't be fixed or replaced. The other must have parts are there and in good condition.
Out of the sixteen, err seventeen I have two NIB and two others that have not been started or ran. Only two were basket cases, #2 and the one I refinished in silver. Both still will run.
Probably a full rehab Chancey, body sand and polish and new sticky backed stickers. Under things too that you don't see. I learned from my mistakes on #2. These are fragile especially the hood pivots and front suspension. I can take them apart and reassemble blindfolded, and with my eyes that's a help along with 3:00 readers.
I have kept a loose-leaf binder on all of these, when I bought it, the wording/pictures from the sellers ad. etc..
