I suppose that is the problem especially in China I am sir there must be a way to make a tee dee .049 cheaper as ap make the wasp .061 and cs made the boddobmills and clan engines.EXModelEngines wrote:nitroairplane wrote:Yes, do you think i would be better off contacting the like of Ronald valentine to make me a couple of cranks as it should be easy for him and his prices are fair.
I think that would be your best bet. Heck, some companies do not want to make only 1000 pieces lol.

They are surprisingly flexible on quantities. With an engine like a Tee Dee there are 3 main areas of concern in my mind:
Cylinder, Piston, and Crankshaft
They all have to be very precise and fit together properly. The rest of the parts, while still precise are not as critical to overall engine stability.
They are probably doing runs of 5000 or more though.

I doubt they made more than 1000 clan .24cc engines because they are quit rare and boddo mills engine fetch over $200 and are less precise than a .049 tee dee

Your probably right. I was thinking wasp.

Ok and if we have more to discuss I have started a thread about production runs.http://coxengineforum.forumakers.com/t107-production-of-cox-engines-today#1144EXModelEngines wrote:nitroairplane wrote:I doubt they made more than 1000 clan .24cc engines because they are quit rare and boddo mills engine fetch over $200 and are less precise than a .049 tee dee

i don't think you would have to spend a whole lot on the tank assembly. there are usually some BW's on ebay
that are pretty busted up, but usually the tank is okay. i've seen em go for maybe 30$. and then you have some nice BW spare parts and a tank assembly too. the rest of the parts are easy to come by if you get them from matt or bernie.
but i had to laugh how carl whined about his venom clone not reaching the EXACT performance level, that he expected, i mean thats why we call it a CLONE. no offense carl, but you really don't need these rpms, unless
you actually use it in c/l rat racing events. and if you wanted to match it perfectly, you'd have to fiddle around with
the fragile piston, and its other flaws.
btw: engines running at 4 1/2 turns is normal. every engine has its own butter zone, my super bee likes it rich at 4 turns, while my BW likes only 1 1/2 turns. so don't call your poor engine a son of a b****.
it's only as good as its maker

But the ignite maker was Estes then you know you got a problem.GermanBeez wrote:i don't think you would have to spend a whole lot on the tank assembly. there are usually some BW's on ebay

i know that when I go to the park with my Baja Bug, people always gather around and watch it go in a circle. They all ask "where can I get one of those" I always have to reply with a "on ebay, they are not made anymore"

Same with me especially .010 powered stuff once earlier this year unroll a cox .010 and a rag to the park and flew it the 2 guys there asked if it was a helicopter lolAdmin wrote:i know that when I go to the park with my Baja Bug, people always gather around and watch it go in a circle. i just think people have to chill out about *st*s. it was just a typical economical process like just recently,
the german model train manufacturer Märklin known for their high precision models, had to be overtaken
by some chinese investors, because the company had serious problems selling their products, due
to their high prices (400$ for a locomotive, wow...). thats probably what happened with cox.
