3 B/GS '57 Wen Mac
Not as renown as Cox, yet still quite the engineering and modeling detail was exhibited by the Wen Mac corporation.
I'll portray a quick restoration process of the black '57 that has been waiting the process for approximately 8 years as informational steps.
One of the first processes was to lighten the interior from years of yellowing. This was accomplished via the Retro-Brite Process of hydrogen peroxide and sunlight:
Next was the decision to re-vacuum metalize the chrome as opposed to "spraying" the chrome on:
The detail captured within these models was quite well done as can be easily seen via the driver:
Decided to mildly customize the model for I grew up in the "chrome" age. Painted the steering wheel, driver and added a floor shifter. For the purist, there changes can easily be reversed back:
Needed to add new black rear chassis clips which was quite the challenge especially when removing the old glued and broken clips:
So the end product was finally accomplished after sitting in a box for too many years. Hope some of these procedures help others here with their restoration projects.

The ‘57 Chevy is one of my favorite “Classic Cars.” You have done a great job refurbishing yours. I’d like to know a little more about the “re-vacuum metalize” process you used for the chrome. Did you doit yourself or have it done somewhere.?

Marleysky: Use to use Chrome Tech out of Madison, but after 30 years they closed up shop.
I am very happy with Vacuum Orna Metal CO. out of Romulus, MI. Reasonable, top quality chrome and extremely fast turn around.

RE: 3 B/GS 57 Wen Mac
Never had the Wen Mac 57 Chevy as kid, but I did have the real thing (Black 57 Chevy Bel Air Sport Coupe with the deluxe red and black interior).
Added rear seat radio speaker, 2 inch lowering blocks, 4 speed, Dodge Lancer hub caps, custom plexiglass parking light lenses, custom plexiglass tail light lenses, narrow white wall tires, two wash jobs a week and wax the black once a month with Cadillac Blue Coral wax ( the top line wax at the time) !!!
Can you say super cool chick magnet ???
Steve.....
