That Ambroid picture with the screw in cap sure brought back memories. Both visual and olfactory.

Question time. Since you mentioned it.... Was the screw in cap better than the screw on cap? Any advantages, or disadvantages?

I've been searching, but my magazine collection has a large gap in time line (1961) of the .010's debut. Still looking though.

It is easier to remove the screws than plastic caps. I used them, they are practical.Other than this, top of plastic caps break if tightly capped.

Chancey, back then I never knew the difference, I was just happy to find an aero glue that worked. I used alot of that very Ambroid glue and was happy to see a picture of it. I'm thinking Guillows and hollow logs.
worthpoint. I'm shy about branching out from ebay. Don't know much about it, but they do have some interesting stuff. That Pacta screw top cement for example.

Hello Kim ... thanks for these announcements ... they are amazing and nostalgic ...
As part of this, I leave here my photo and a video .... I think it is the only Motor Coe Pee Wee .020 r / c, which has been registered in night flight .... no small thing. .. I trust a lot in the running of this engine!
Thank you friend for being here and everyone for being part of this beautiful forum!

Nice flight, Mauricio. I've never seen a glow powered night flight, only electrics. And, a very smooth landing, too, considering the difficulties in flying at night.

I sure enjoyed that night flight video. I have one of those R/C Pee Wee 0.020's but never took it out of the package. How far can you throttle it back before it quits?

Re: "Birth of the Pee Wee" Product Ad and Engine Review Model Airplane News February 1958
And just remembered: I had an uncle pick me up a Pee Wee 0.020 many years ago. It had a plain coloured tank (not red) and zero compression. It would run if I dumped a whole lot of 3 in 1 oil into the fuel but otherwise was a lemon. Any idea what this engine might have been out of?

Re: "Birth of the Pee Wee" Product Ad and Engine Review Model Airplane News February 1958
Plain aluminium tank was the product version from an RTF, may be a donor engine.
Lack of compression could be caused by a number of things. I'd first check the glow head area. You may have leaking there, may be missing or need a new gasket. It could also be worn out. Then too, it is possible for a quality assurance problem, piston was loose in the cylinder to begin with. Or, it was run too lean with the wrong type of fuel with not enough Castor content. One put too large a prop, may be a 6x3 or 6x4 prop that caused overheating and excessive piston / cylinder wear.
Threre's a lot of what if's, but I'd check the glow head area first.

Thank you for your comment.
The acceleration ring is manufactured at home, you can regulate it to completely cover the exhaust ports, the engine will regulate the lower rpm and it will stop.
I leave you two more videos of Pee Wee .020 I hope you enjoy them.
